I couldn't be happier about it, fighting games deliver a 1-on-1 thrill that in many ways feels more personal then shooters. Like most gamers I grew up with fighting games like Mortal Kombat & Street Fighter so they have a special place in my heart. The powerful ressurection of this genre has sparked limitless possibilities throughout the gaming industry and has sprouted creativity and limitless potential. I think fighting games as a whole has evolved and branched out in ways that can only satisfy, because if you don't enjoy one you're bound to find the niche you fit into. From Marvel vs Capcom 2 to Blazblue, Tekken 6 to Street Fighter IV the industry is prooving that they can really push the boundaries of what we're used to and in doing so have reimagined the simple punches & kicks we started off with in 16-bits of face-breaking glory. All of this cuppled with the technical know-how to properly balance characters and the addition of features we could've only dreamed of back in the day, I just get to sit back as the consumer and bask in the bloody obionce that this fighting games.
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3: TURBO HD REMIX ! ! ! !
Now I just want Ed Boon to make another 2-D Mortal Kombat.....
The world would be complete!
P.S. We all know that this will inevitabley lead to a few sub-par fighting games but no one forces you to buy crappy games. That's what GiantBomb is here for... to shelter us from the barrage of crappy games flooding the market.
