I feel like it's probably Dark Souls for me. Personally, it changed the way I think about games and I feel like the impact it has had on the industry is gigantic.
It almost ruined From Software games for me as well since every time I start one I wonder if it'll be as good as Dark Souls.
Played this back in 2015 or something and thinking about jumping back in - are EU players able to use NA servers without lag or would I be better sticking with an EU server?
Skies of Arcade for turn based, a true classic if you have access to either a dreamcast or a gamecube. One of my top 5 favourite JRPGS as well.
Earthbound and Mother 3 (play M3 on an emulator with the fan translation) are both games that you should probably try, Mother 3 especially is pretty timeless.
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door on Gamecube is highly regarded.
You should definitely try Grandia 1 as well if you like 2.
EDIT: Also The World Ends With You on either DS or iOS (or switch if you can wait) is a really cool JRPG with interesting systems.
never posted on GAF but had it bookmarked because it was the best place to keep up to date with video game news and the OT threads were always pretty good. Will definitely miss having it around.
@redhotchilimist: Chun-Li is quite difficult especially in season 2 which is probably offputting. I would have expected Bison to be top 5 though, kind of surprised.
It's pretty annoying if someone says they should pay more attention to the game they're playing and gets replies of "If you want a pro LP (or something along those lines) don't watch giant bomb" as if paying attention to a game you're playing isn't something people should expect from a feature specifically about a game.
I remember at the time agreeing with them but in hindsight Bayonetta 2 and even Mario Kart 8/Smash 4 were a lot better. 2014 wasn't a great year in general so SoM seemed to win by default because it was the only decent game on those new platforms.
Well there was Guilty Gear Xrd but of course that had no chance of winning.
