Logitech G27 Racing Wheel... it's so awesome!

It's my first racing wheel, and I got it to play GT5, and after using it for a while, oh my god it is amazing.  It's got a set of steel pedals, a 6 speed shift stick with a push down reverse gear, and the wheel is steel and wrapped with real leather.  The wheel also has those modern day shift paddles (also steel) for if you don't want to deal with the clutch and stick.

It feels like the wheel is really connected to a set of wheels, as it shakes over bumps, or stiffens up at high speeds.  The wheel resists and turns realistically as you take a hard corner, so you'll have to fight it and counter steer.  So for example, you know when driving you make a turn and let the wheel just straighten itself out in your hands, well that's what is going on here.  But be careful about bumping another car or driving over the rumble strips, because just as your front wheels get hit or turned, your steering wheel does too.

Also, just a tip, when you finish plugging everything in... don't do what I did when I picked the wheel up off the table as I booted up the system, and it suddenly started "calibrating" by spinning in my hands, and the clamp things snagged all the cords and twisted everything up!  Anyway, this is my first experience with a racing wheel and I will never play a racing sim on a gamepad or keyboard ever again.  Also getting up from playing GT5 and going for a drive gives you a real lead foot...

Unfortunately as a mere mortal I only have the Driving Force GT but yeah, totally scared the shit out of me (and my cats) the first time I plugged it in and turned it on.  Luckily I already had it on a stand at the time.  After playing for about 4 hours today before work I found myself having to resist the urge to swerve in front of cars that were trying to pass me.

Anyways congrats on your purchase and happy driving!

I only have a DFGT myself but since I have to put away the wheel after I play a session, there are some days where I would play GT5 on the controller still if I am too lazy to set it up or think I won't play long enough to warrent going through the hassle of setting it up. I envy those that have a dedicated space with the wheel and probably chair always set up. How is yours set up btw double?

I have a table shoved inside a closet with my PS3, so I can just leave my wheel and everything set up there.  It doesn't look nice but it works great.

@KaosAngel: I had to play the rally events on controller because my wheel literally made my entire table shake so much that my bottle of water fell to the floor (big mess, carpet floor). Made my hands all tingly as well since I had to grip hard for control what was essentially a giant vibrator. A better wheel with potentially zero deadzone and stronger force feedback would only make the car spin out of control much easier. GT5 for some reason doesn't seem to think softer suspensions settings would equal to actually absorbing all the tiny bumps on rally stages.

I have the Driving Force GT...tried it out on several racing games (mostly on NASCAR '09), but the force feedback was going nuts every time I turned to merge lanes or pulled to the left constantly by itself (even on the straightaways) when bump-drafting others at 204 MPH at Talladega SuperSpeedway.
I still have it, but it has been untouched for over 5 months.

I just spent forever hooking stuff up and moving things around, but now I have my PS3 and PC both at my desk here hooked up to my monitor, and now when I want to switch from using the wheel on my PS3 to my PC, it's as easy as moving the usb cable over.  I'm playing Dirt 2 with this wheel and it's amazing.  I can really get into it now, going around a corner, flicking the back end out and drifting, and when I caught air off a jump the steering wheel suddenly cut the force feedback as there was no more weight on the front tires; it's very realistic!  Gonna use it on all my PC racing sims now.

I used to own the logitech g25 and its definately worth the money, alot of people say OMG WHY DONT YOU BUY A CAR WITH THAT MONEY

Its funny honestly, you have to experience it, playing drving games feels right with a wheel and a controller will become something of the past

Although i did sell mine in the end because i never used it haha, to be fair i dont play racing games anymore also :P

I got a G25, the previous Logitech FFB Wheel a few years ago and it's amazing. Absolutely value for money. Makes racing games so much better.

lol I know Dirt 2 isn't very simulation focused, but the drifting is mad fun!  I own Live For Speed, Race 07 + expansions, and ToCA Race Driver 3.  I'll check out netKar Pro, I never heard of it.  Thanks.

I had a G25 about two years back and it was an awesome steering wheel, unfortuantely barely used it due to my Rheumatoid Arthritis and sold it. Hold their value very well to.
