And I'm not just making that up. I know Halo 3 does some neat stuff, with it's image and video sharing. But I think World at War takes the stat tracking part in a FPS to a hole new level. Seriously, this is the future.
It's got everything from maps that show the spots where you died in a particular match, or all time. It has crazy data about where do you tend to shoot dudes, your progress bar from the time you started playing, you can even compare them to your callofduty.com friends (granted they also did the account linking steps). It also incorporates leaderboards, but there limited to online stats, for some reason single player levels scores are not there. GTA IV (via RS social club) stil has the best web-based leaderboards ever.
As with everything, it's not yet perfect. The system fails to load some stats from time to time, date records are messed up because they keep saying I last played on Dec 23rd, 2008. And some other random bugs. But it's all in BETA, so yeah. It's pretty amazing how powerfull the internet is. Lately Ive been reading a lot of negative comments about Call of Duty: World at War. They range from "guns sound like cans tossed to a wall" to "it's too hard to take down a tank" to "dogs are shit". I'm pretty tired of this so I will try to explain why these people are just crying foul before they even get a good feel for the game.
1- "Guns sound like cans" It's been standard now that when a game is in development, the sound department goes on the field and records real, live sounds of all the guns. If you think the guns sound bad it's probably because your used to the sound of today's arsenal. In my opinion they sound believable and that's what's matters.
2- "Guns are crap" Those guns were top of the line in the 1940s, most of them they did the job fine (allies won, right?), blame history for the feel of the weapons in any case (accuracy, reload times, recoil) if you must. Don't blame the game.
3- "Tanks are hard to take down" In WW II, there was no such thing as a RPG-7, aka, taking down tanks with infantry must have been a pain the ass. Just look at movies like Saving Pvt. Ryan, they had to use like 3-4 sticky explosives to just stop one, not even disable the cannon, just stop it from moving. Chances are, if you want to take them down, use the sticky grenades, bazookas or another tank. You can also use the remote detonation explosives but for that you have to be very close to the tank. Key word here is teamwork.
4- "Dogs are horrible, they always kill me!" What do you expect, a poodle attack? These dogs are as much of a pain as the chopper in Modern Warfare was, with the added factor that now campers are in for some dog rape. Yes, they take like 3-4 shots to take down, but didn't the chopper take like a billion bullets before going down too?.
5- "It plays too much like CoD4!" Modern Warfare sold above 11 million units, you think anyone would completely change the core gameplay when it obviously is a successful concept. I bet we would not have it any other way.
6- "It looks too much like CoD4!" Again, Modern Warfare was a really, really good looking game. From what I have seen, the graphics in World at War have been improved. There is more details in the maps, more vibrant colors and better shading. And it's even more impressive that the game can look that good, when you can play with 3 other people by your side. All I hope is that the frame rate in the sp runs as good as CoD4 did, love those 60fps.
So yeah, that's what I think about the game, it will be awesome, no doubt. Please give it a chance once it's out. I know some people hate on the devs because CoD 3 was derrivative, prety looking, but lacking originality. I totally agree. But still, no reason to hate on something that has passed, move on. World ar War will be different.
It seems like I'm still catching up with the times in everything. I bought Mass Effect a few days ago, about 10 hours in. It took about 3 to ignore (get used to) the minor texture pop-up and that one time I had to start the autosave option because I got stuck in the geometry with the tank-like thing. But after these set backs, I am really enjoying the game, shame I'm about a year late. BTW, I'm a women, a spacer, a soldier and a future lesbian (if I actually figure out to make out with another female character). *Tear of shame* Her name is Ema Shepard and is a full-on paragon by the way. I gave her blue eyes because I can.
In TV Series
The fact that I had no idea that season 4 of Prison Break is well on it's 8th episode is shocking, I am a real fan, but season 3 was a bit crappy (at least in the number of episodes, thing was really short) Anyway, I am currently downloading the episodes and I think it's kicking some fine ass, seeing all the characters sticking it to the "company "is pretty rad. Oh, and I rented season 2 of LOST, what a messed up show. I don't understand shit about what's going on in the island and im in freken disk n3.... lame. I will seriously lol when they stop pressing that code every 108 minutes, I bet someone will unleash the dogs and glitch under the map for easy kills... ok ok, CoD 5 beta is still in my head.
In Movies
Decided to watch Alpha Dog, worst idea ever. Stopped it at 15 minutes, I just could not stand it. Same thing happened to me with Southland Tales, I just hate movies that start slow and are hard to figure out what the fuck there about.

I rarely ever cared about TGS, always thought it was a japanese E3 with news about games that I don't care about and info that I already knew about the ones I did care about. Thing is, it's just started and a lot of cool news is pouring out like a crazy. I mean, tekken 6 coming to Xbox 360, release date for the New Xbox Experience (NOV 19) and a fucking insane awesome new Resident Evil 5 trailer. Oh, and I just saw that there making a No More Heroes 2, fuck yes.

The NVGRSB, short for non video games related shit blog (I'll use it when I have nothing to say about video games at the moment). So here, try and sleep after watching this.
Ever since Turn 10 announced that there putting in the Auction House 25 one-of-a-kind Fable II themed Lotus Espionage for the average dude, I thought, hey, might as well try and get one. Thing is, the bids are getting insane. The normal price for such a thing would be 3-4 million CR. That is like 20 hours of playing. Now, there is about an hour left on one and it's going for over 290 million. Ask me where that person got that amount of money, my guess is he's in the Forza 2 mafia crime organization.
I virtually did all the 20 races in 2 days. Got the AWP achiev as expected and most important of all, I won them with out having to boost. Now, all I have left is "Wanted". But I dont think I'll get that anytime soon. Im up for some Midnight Club L.A. now. :D
