I think that people who don't play modern board games aren't aware that there are literally several hundred board games released every year, sort of like video games. There's just as many genres of board games as there are in video games.

It would be like someone who rarely plays video games playing Farm Simulator 2017 and saying how laborious it was compared to video games like Galaga and Asteroids. There's a board game for any length, genre, group interactivity, complexity level, etc... that you can think of.

The Evil Within 2 captured my interest the most from the Bethesda conference. It helps that survival horror is one of my favorite genres. The first one was a gem that was plagued by a bad engine and performance problems.

This game is great, I'm enjoying it more than Overwatch. Overwatch is a quick 10 minutes match with simplistic gameplay like TF2. Battleborn has more gameplay complexity and depth and matches are usually 20-30 minutes. I like games where I can feel a sense of character progression and accomplishment from longer matches.

Also, equipping all legendary loot is a bad idea. You gain lots of xp from upgrading turrets in the early game. This is how other characters are leveling so fast compared to you and dominating you on the field. If you only equip expensive items to activate you'll be underleveled compared to the other team and will not contribute turrets to your team defense. There is a nice balance between level speed, turrets, and item activation that you want to consider for each character.

Bottom line is this game is light hearted and fun to play with a friend.

Having to set the game to easy just to beat the game in time for review seems to go against the spirit of Xcom. It just doesn't seem like a Dan kind of game, I know he really only got serious about pc gaming a little over a year ago. Xcom is a kind of game where its standard to start over several times to learn all the mechanics.

As for the performance issues, lowering your AA to FXAA and turning depth of field off seems to help a lot.

The reason you have to walk back to the fight in Overwatch is the same reason you have to walk back to the fight in Dota. This is a team based game with objectives, if you could just spawn instantly like CoD it would ruin the idea of gaining advantage on the other team.

It's supposed to hurt when you die so the other team has time to complete the objective, this rewards smarter play and teamwork.

The Vader vs. Luke quick time event is already in the game. If both players press a certain button they'll lock sabers, whoever presses attack the most wins the duel.
