JohnTheGamer: Best of 2009

I don't buy many new games, as a result you may think this list a little... terrible. I agree, but after counting up the games I played released in 2009, I realized I had more than 10 and thuoght I'd get in on the fun. There are plenty of games I haven't played yet (especially since I don't have a PS3) that I know would probably be on the list like Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, inFAMOUS, Borderlands, Assassin's Creed II, New Super Mario Bros., Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Patapon 2 and tons, tons more games so don't hold it against me. I do play plenty of games, more than you I bet!, but those weren't released in 2009, like Seaman.

List items

  • This game came out of left field. Sure is was a Batman game but before this game who knew about Rocksteady? While I will play MW2 more, this game I really enjoyed more.

  • An amazing game, no doubt about it but it was to be expected. Having never played COD4 I can't truly enjoy how much the "little things" made this game soar but I do know that this game will be next to my console for a long, long time.

  • Wow, just wow. First off let me say that I have hardly played any PC games as I just like to hold a controller, started off on consoles and have just found PC games kind of intimidating in the past. I changed my outlook on PC games during this years Steam holiday sale and bought this Audiosurf, and both Freedom Force games. I've always know I'd love Diablo but had never played more than ten minutes of it. I have fallen in love with this game and have found it to be very addicting, plus I can run it great on my laptop.

  • While it didn't revolutionize the music game genre, it took it in a new direction. Focusing on a single band may turn many people off with any band you can name, starting off with The Beatles insures, you're going to get it played by many people, plus me loving The Beatles also helps.

  • I hardly play my Wii. I love it and there are many games that I want for it, but I just don't play it often. Even if it was only for a short period, this game changed that and this will be a joy to play with other people in my house and will be a great reason to keep calling the Wii the party system.

  • Playing in extended play sessions is fun but this game is truly at it's best when you're playing live and with a buddy or two. It helps that it's free, I'll just do something else during those pesky commercials.

  • This game is a quality product and I ate this game up for the week or two following it's release. While I believe it's a little too derivative, at least it's derivative of a genre I adore. The story wasn't a selling point but practically everything else was.

  • I don't like RTS games, I also never played/play PC games much so I already had something to dislike about this game. However I though there were so many things to love about this game and I actually enjoyed the RTS matches.

  • This game did nothing new but I love Afro Samurai and thought this game was good, didn't do nothing extraordinary but didn't do anything terrible. Thought the soundtrack was great, thought there were plenty of cool set pieces and I loved cutting fools up.

  • A great idea and being a fan of older games helped so much more. I loved the whole premise of it, even if at times it could get a tiring to play.
