I was kind of in a similar situation in that I intend to play both games and hadn't already started the Witcher 3 when MGSV came out, and I decided to play MGSV first mainly because I want to be able to enjoy the story for myself before it gets spoiled for me, and I really want to watch the next installment of Metal Gear Scanlon as that goes up. So yeah, my vote is for MGSV - not necessarily because I think YOU should do the same, but if I was in your position (and I guess I kind of was) that's what I would do (and did!). Either way, you're still going to end up playing 2 of this year's best games so you can't really make a wrong decision. Enjoy! :D
I also tend to stick with the non-lethal approach, relying on my WU S.Pistol and Renov-ickx TP sniper rifle (I haven't unlocked the tranq. conversion to the M2000 sniper rifle yet, so I don't use my current one unless absolutely necessary). I also carry the AM MRS-4 but I almost never use it on people. As for support items I mostly just use the magazines to pull people away so I can hold them up, but I also carry stun grenades for groups at outposts, grenades for AA Radars and comms equipment, and C4 for the odd occasion when I want to do something more fancy (or to stop an armoured vehicle so I can sneak up and fulton it). I also bring some cardboard boxes to hide from helicopters and stuff, but mostly I just crawl around in my desert camo. I might have to try out the animal camo though since I'm reaching more areas that have more grassy patches.
It was weird listening to the guys on the Bombcast talk about that legendary bear being so much trouble, I just used my tranq sniper rifle to shoot it in the face once from 100m away, which caused the bear to run around aimlessly until it fell asleep, then I drove my jeep up to it and extracted it. That's also the weapon I used to deal with mission 11, although some of the alternative methods I've heard of are pretty amusing. So yeah, I always carry it just in case, and I can't wait to get a silenced replacement for that!
Considering that I'm playing on PC and that won't get MGO until next year I don't know how much interest I will still have for it by then, a lot of other games I will likely spend a lot of time playing will come out between now and then. That said, I will most likely check it out when it does launch, if only to see what it is like, but I normally don't really get into multiplayer that much so I don't expect it to hold my interest for too long anyway.
Ok, well now that they've fixed the menu this is a lot more fun to mess around with. I'm going to stick with my old one until I unlock some more pieces to use, but here are a couple more ideas I threw together - these could probably be done better with more stuff unlocked, and if anyone wants to take one of these ideas and make something better feel free!
All of the word lists take waaay too long to scroll through for me, so I gave up and decided to stick to basic letters for now and quickly threw this one together. If they actually fix those menus on PC I might go back and make something more interesting.
@kmfrob: I think that must be mainly in films? It's common and customary for people to say please and thank you in the U.S.
Yeah it's certainly a film thing. In a lot of films (mostly older ones) people also just hang up phones without saying goodbye. Have to save those precious seconds! I mean I'm sure there are some people in real life who are like that, but I would never expect that to be common anywhere.
Honestly I have no idea how deep I'll get into the FOB stuff, but assuming that I will be able to help defend others regardless of that, here's a link to my Steam ID: Jojojimmeny - I might not be in on launch day, but definitely not too far from it (assuming the game isn't somehow broken, obviously!), and only on PC.
I'll definitely be around to confirm that I am me, or at least someone who looks exactly like me but is wearing a fancy new hat and coat, and is probably Campbell or some other General dude.
