I never used to be a big strategy fan, nor did I play Starcraft 1, but that did not stop me from enjoying the heck out of Starcraft 2. The game is so well made and really allows people with a low strategy skill level to enjoy the game. The multiplayer is streamlined and gets you into the action quick if your just want to get a game going but has a lot of stats that you can use the improve you game. All in all Starcaft 2 is the game that left the most lasting impact on me and that's why it is my game of the year.

Allen Wake has the best atmosphere of any game this year. Even though there is a very linear path, Remedy does a great job immersing the player into the the world and making them feel like they're are in a gigantic forest. The lighting effects are top-notch and the story pulls the player in. the only downfall of Allen wake is the verity of the game play, if there were just a few more weapons or locations this problem would be fixed. Overall, Allen Wake is a fine game and hopefully did well enough sales wise to warrant a sequel

Best racing game of the year, criterion really took the NFS series back to its roots while still making this fell modern.

Pac-Man champion edition DX doesn't really play like old school Pac-Man, but that is what I think is so great about it. So many retro revivals try to be too much like the games that there bringing back and in turn cannot rekindle the magic of the old game. The frantic nature of DX is what makes it so great and getting your revenge on all the ghosts for making you lose oh so many quarters in the arcade is extremely satisfying

Even though the battle system in Costume Quest may get repetitive, the charm far outweighs it.
