I was honestly dead set against buying this game after hearing its announcement. I got into the Halo series at Halo 3 and I felt like, except for Halo ODST, the formula of the games and the shooting action didn't change much between each iteration. I don't want to buy what is essentially the same game every year. I received Halo 4 as a Christmas gift so that I would play with some friends. The campaign was nothing to write home about. The fact is that the combat in Halo just isn't that interesting. Walk into a room, shoot dudes, rinse and repeat. You might try and say that is true of other games such as COD, which I agree is true. However, the weapons in Halo are particular unsatisfying to use when dispatching enemies. Light Rifle / DMR are the only weapons that I could get any satisfaction from. Multi is fun, but pretty standard fare. I'll probably jump into multi when my friends play but mark me down as uninterested in ANOTHER Halo game unless 343 does something truly original with the series.

After quite a significant drought, I finally beat a game that I had hotly anticipated since I had first heard about it. I didn't really care about the plot or setting, I just knew it would scratch that itch that only a GTA game can satisfy. The itch first started back with GTA 3, a landmark game in my personal gaming history. However, with each subsequent release of the GTA franchise I feel like I'm trying to recapture the nostalgia I have for those first few releases. GTA V isn't a bad game and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I thought the character switching added something a little different from GTA IV. I couldn't shake the feeling that the game was too drawn out and perhaps the GTA designers have gone back to the well a few too many times. Still, a part of me gets sad when a GTA game is over because I feel like my adventure with memorable characters and a really well crafted environment are over.
