I honestly have asked the same question a ton of times. I think they wanted it to be rated M because studies show that games rated mature sell a whole lot better than games in other ratings.

What is worse than people being achievement junkies is quitters. You can't get into one ranked match without someone quitting in the first couple of rounds. It is really ridiculous.

I believe that the story in Gears of War 2 will be much more in depth than Gears 1. I think the first was more a teaser and a lot of the gaps will be filled in.
