1. Mega Man 2
The perfect platformer. Solid controls with a solid challenge. I think I rented this game more than any other back in the day. I can easily consider this my all time favorite game. LIFE LESSON LEARNED: Bubbles are more powerful than you think. |
2. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
My favorite entry in one of my favorite franchises. Rockstar took the series to new places in many different ways. gang warfare, RPG elements, airplanes, and many other great additions. LIFE LESSON LEARNED: You brother was and always will be a fuck up. |
3. Kingdom Hearts
To be honest this Disney & Square collaboration scared me at first. I was convinced this was a kid's game. Ultimately I was wrong. Teaming together with Donald and Goofy to find Mickey and your friends was extremely satisfying. My wife and I love to visit Disney and I loved fighting and exploring the Disney universe. LIFE LESSON LEARNED: Gummies can be made into space vessels. |

4. Final Fantasy VII
I know what your thinking. Why does everyone think FF7 is the best of the series? That is because it is. There were so many characters good, bad, and obnoxious (Cat Sith). The story is fantastic and with no other FF story coming close to this one until 10. Sephiroth is arguably one of the toughest and most sinister antagonists of any video game. LIFE LESSON LEARNED: Your old boss/mentor is still an asshole. |
5. River City Ransom
One of my all time favorite NES games. I love the art style of the characters and enjoy many other NES games in the same style (Super Dodge Ball/Volleyball). The controls are solid with some very light RPG elements. This game still stands up to this day. LIFE LESSON LEARNED: Smiles are free. |
6. BioShock
The first game I played on the 360 that made me say Holy Shit! Rapture is an amazing environment. A fallen utopia with gorgeous details, a driven founder, and a fantastic story of a world gone wrong. I don't know what it is, but Rapture is an amazing place. LIFE LESSON LEARNED: If someone offers you the opprotunity to live under the sea don't do it. |
7. Fallout 3
This is the first entry in the Fallout series I played. I was blown away with how deep this game was. Minus the bugs, this is my favorite action RPG. I also discovered how much I love 40s & 50s art deco because of this game. LIFE LESSON LEARNED: Sometimes you have to drink from the toilet to survive. |
8. Worms 2: Armageddon
I wasted so many hours playing this game with friends in high school. We would stay up all night drinking and seeing how much destruction we could muster. One of if not the best party game I have ever played. LIE LESSON LEARNED: Beware of the concrete donkey. |
9. Mass Effect 2
This was THE best game of 2010. Bioware improved on almost all of the issues from the first game. The only complaints I can give is the reduced RPG elements, mostly less weapons, and I felt the end boss was a little weak based on the build up. LIFE LESSON LEARNED: If your a bad ass you can do anything. |
10. Shining Force II
One of the many games I played on SEGA Channel back in the day. I logged a shit ton of hours into this series and the strategic battles on an open battlefield. One of the better RPG's I have ever played. LIFE LESSON LEARNED: In a demon uprising always check ancient towers first. |
