@ghost277: Yes, I think Soviet Russia goes on to conquer the world even in the 'good' ending. If you watch the Barisov videos its obvious that he is a staunch communist that wants to help his country. Unlike Demichev he would not authorize testing of the TMD on human subjects or the creation of the singularity. Hence in this future the Soviets still have the advantage of e99 without the monsters or time rip. They must have conquered the world, however we can presume the leading power is more beneficent.
An ending I would have liked to see was killing Demichev in 1955. As you are carrying him along the corridor instead of killing yourself. This I think would have been a total reset without the changes to the timeline the other one caused. I presume in the original timeline Barisov died somehow on the island.
Kathryn was on the ship, the ship was reverting to 1955 timeline, she was obviously dragged back when part of the ship reverted to 1955. She then started MIR-12 by writing in the book. The book that she showed Renko to tell him why MIR-12 was started. MIR-12 was the resistance against Demichev, they knew that time was 'wrong' from the book.
@LunarAura: I think Valve is really frustrated with xbox live, they can only update their games once, they have to charge for additional campaigns for l4d, cant continue to keep TF2 updated.
I think Sony will give them more freedom in this regard and hence they are willing to overcome whatever programming issues they might have.
As a displaced Londoner living in the states, may I suggest the title of this post be " It's the 9th of February and you know what that means......." otherwise you will confuse the poor USA peeps into thinking its September and we have several more months of this god awful weather to go instead of about a month.
