Going by the previous episodes and feedback so far on this I really don't know if I will listen to this. These GOTY podcasts are usually a highlight but unfortunatley I have really not enjoyed much of them this time around.
I wish Rorie could have been in on the GOTY deliberations. I think he would have contributed a lot to it.
Me too, he is always great on the podcast and it's a shame he isn't in more content. He's the only one so far to have the correct game at number 1 for example.
I spent around 12 hours with DLC and loved every bit of it. I think the new stuff they added was exactly what most people would have wanted. Being able to mod the spear, bigger inventory, more weapon modifications, some cool new weapons and improved old ones. The new outfits are really good too.
This DLC made me start a fresh game all over again. Horizon is one of my favourite games in recent years and this add on is a perfect way to round out the year for me.
I should mention I've never played a Far Cry and the last Assassin's Creed I played was #2, so I can understand if people see this and think 'another open world game.' For me though this is a true gem.
The last Farcry I played was 3 and while that was fun from a more going nuts in an open world with crazy situations like wild animals messing up your stealth I also feel Horizon is the open world game that matters this generation. I really hope we don't have to wait until PS5 to get a sequel.
@undeadpool: me too, it's always interesting to hear what went on in the older days.
The point about podcasts in particular though was a good segments. I remember even as recently as a couple of years, when I told people I listened to podcasts their response was usually "listening to what?" Whereas now it's far more common.
I would really like these to stay in video from. Seeing the odd things you have is a great aspect and it's always interesting to see how your setup changes from video to video.
Picked this up last night and went through arcade mode on experienced. Did it on my first attempt and ended with 30+ continues left. At first the resetting of your abilities and upgrades really seems unfair but once you get used to the dash properties and have some idea of what the levels throw at you it's really not that bad. I also think this makes the game way more fun when you have got all your upgrades as you feel very powerful.
The boss fights are great but seem like they could be staggered better in terms of difficulty. The third and final boss are extremely hard and are going to take most people a lot of deaths to figure out but the rest are really straight forward.
I only watched the new Wolfenstein part but damn that got me excited to play it. I'be been meaning to go through the New Order again and that showing has got me in the perfect mood.
I really wanted to like the game, but I felt like it never asked me to use the movement options.
I think Vanquish' biggest flaw is that it buries the game it actually is so deep most people never find it. I think I might have a dig on youtube to see if anyone has made some more advanced tutorials as I think that's what needed to explain it which is a shame.
A nice addition for this version would have been a few example videos of how to use the more advanced stuff just to show new players it's in there.
