@subjugation: I wish people didn't about this kind of thing.

@zevvion: I didn't follow the development that closely. I knew that it had huge amount of procedurally generated planets and, being a software developer myself, I knew that even thought we have amazing algorithms, we're not at the point where we can simulate a diverse universe so I expected most of the planets to be pretty samey. I also knew that with a game world that huge, a lot of things have the potentiel to go wrong so I expected the game play to play it self and be pretty basic and not be particularly deep. But yeah, I understand that the game feels more like a 20$ indie game and not a 60$ AAA release. I feel like a overpaid for it but I don't really regret.

So, I'm one of the lucky few who runs this game on PC with no real issues. That being said, I have a brand spanking new PC that I built last month. i5 6600K, GTX 1060, 16GB of DDR4 RAM.

This game was pretty much what I excepted it to be. It's not deep by any means but it's so god damn relaxing. I was hoping for it to be my new Podcast/Netflix on second monitor game. I've but 10 hours into it and it's exactly that for me. Most of the planets are pretty same-y but some times, you find a planet that's straight out of a cover of an old Sci-Fi novel. That's exactly what I was looking for and It's no more than that.

I feel like people were hoping for it to be Star Citizen. It's not. It's a procedurally generated survival/crafting/exploration game set in space. It's definitely not for everyone. I like it but I think it has plenty of flaws and people who don't like it have valid reasons not to.

I opened my free Lootbox, crossing my fingers for the Zarya or Lucio skin and got a legendary!

...

It was 500 credits.

Still, I think it's a fun thing for Blizzard to do. Not a fan of those items being only available in loot boxes not purchasable with in game currency so you're completely at the mercy of RNG.

When the game was in beta and some time after release I used to stick to the same handful of heroes but I started to diversify a bit more and I'm having so much more fun.

Zarya is now my go to Tank, Lucio is my default Healer and I hate how much fun I'm having with Genji. Mei and Pharah are still my most played heroes but now I can say I have at least two or three heroes I'm confortable with for every role.

@frytup: I've been using a 144 Hz monitor for about a year now and I can tell the difference between 60 and 60+ FPS. It's not as cut and dry than comparing 30 and 60 but it's still noticeable.

DOOM was a spiritual experience for me. I finished it once and It's probably the game I'll keep going back to after I upgrade a component on my PC. Dark Souls 3 was all I ever wanted out of a Souls game. On a side note, I also finally played and finished Bloodborne this year. I really liked it but I had a better time with Dark Souls 3. Blood And Wine, even though it's an expansion for a game from last year, I consider a full game since there's so much content.

The game that I keep going back to and never getting tired of is definitely Overwatch. It replaced TF2 as my "I don't know if I have 20 minutes of 5 hours to kill" game. It's my game of the year, without a doubt.

@isomeri: Adam doesn't really show up for This is Only a Test, he's on Still Untitled.

I used to listen to This is Only a Test religiously back in the Whiskey Media days but now see myself skipping an episode here and there. Will still shows up some times but it's mostly Norm, Jeremy Williams and Kishore Hari. They drifted away from consumer tech stuff and it's more of a general science/tech podcast. I still really like it but I kind of miss Gary Whitta who's almost never on.

When Will left Tested there was an awkward transition phase with just Norm and Jeremy but when Kishore got on board and Norm got more confortable with his hosting duties, the show got it's groove on and gotten better with time.

From what I can recall, there was Alpha/Beta demo thing released some time ago and it was apparently pretty mediocre.
