I have never witnessed a game do such an enormous turn around, it is so different to the version that came before that i can happily add it to my list. Final fantasy XI was the only mmo i really enjoyed and it broke my heart when the initial game launched.
Thankfully after some reshuffling of staff and a new creative lead, the game finally lived up to the name and somehow ive been playing it since beta and never missed a night. If there is one thing i will say, you MUST have a decent guild to get the most out of this game, i have been lucky enough to have friends in real life willing to play, i can only imagine a solo experience would be lonely and difficult to play.

The very definition of a multiplayer game and easily the hardest of the games on my list. The game is not for everyone and even those who it is for may not realise until a few hours in.
Having the system link feature between WiiU and 3DS is a master stroke and allows you to (in theory at least) play the game anytime, anyplace and without a break in the action.

A game that is sometimes a little too smart for its own good, Infinite returns Bioshock to its true form after the miss steps in the second game.
Equal parts movie and game, this adventure will leave you both worried and excited for the future of the series, but for the right reasons.

If Bioshock is part movie, then Metal Gear Rising is part anime with over the top cyborg ninja Raiden ripping and smashing his way through a seemingly infinite amount of enemies and powerful bosses. This is a fun, bombastic adventure game even if it is a little on the short side.

Black Flag reminds us what we loved about the Assassins creed games prior to ACIII and its simple, a likeable main character. It takes the mechanics of its predecessor and fine tunes them giving you a much more fluid and fun to play game.
Captain Kenway could clearly be the next Ezio, with a bit of luck we may see him return some day.

I saw and played the demo of this game a long time ago and decided to put my money where my mouth is. Not only did it turn out to be an excellent decision, i am also in the game (look for Dave Mac) so it benefits from my own brand of awesome.
Seriously though, this is a great looking adventure game which costs buttons on steam, the duo who created this deserve credit for what is one of my fav games of the year and also one of the prettiest.

Studio Ghibli and Factor 5 working on a game together? My brain nearly exploded, the game has a few short commings but the loveable characters and the gorgeous world more than make up for it. Well worth a look if you have any love for JRPGs.

I haven't enjoyed a Pokemon game since the GBA games, i was surprised that i got so hooked by this one, it is everything you always imagined, the monsters are no longer 2d cut outs, they move and have character. You can customise your trainer, take part in all manor of crazy battles and finally complete that pokedex thanks to the online trading and upcoming pokemon storage utility.

MK vs DCU was not a wonderful game, it was barely a good one, and yet somehow Netherealm took that idea, turned it into a 2d brawler and made it work. Featuring a cast of familiar characters such as Batman, Superman, the Green Arrow and my personal fav, Harley Quinn, you fight your way through a dark comic book adventure asking the greatest question of all. What if Superman went bad?

I was super skeptical about this one, as a long time fan of the original Devil May Cry games the whole prospect of this new Dante made me sick. That was of course until i played and realised my mistake.
Although not as technical as the previous games, dmc still manages to channel the theatrics and crazy looking juggle combos of the original games whist dealing with the whole angels vs demons story. If you feel as strong about old Dante as i did, just buy the costume pack, it makes it all better ^_-
