Kinda just wondering why this is. I had never really noticed it before because Chrome is pretty much all I use. But since a couple days I've been taking Edge for a spin and I noticed that it has an Auto option for HTML videos. Is there a reason for this?

@oldguy: Except this has nothing to do with inflation. If inflation was a factor they'd raise the prices on all games they're selling (be it on Xbox one of Windows Store). But they're not doing that. It's just this one game. Even Gears of War 4--which isn't even out yet--is listed as 60 Euros. And as far as I know that's also Play Anywhere/Crossplay.

Just had a look at the Windows store and saw that the Standard Edition is €70!

I'm absolutely flabbergasted at that price. People were all up in arms when CoD became $60 on PC but not this? I know it's got crossplay between Xbox and Windows but come on; that doesn't justify that price tag.

I'm sorry for the rant but this is just laughable. And that no one seems to care is what I find particularly hilarious, especially considering the backlash Activision got for pricing CoD at 60.

I got my elusive cherry popped last night!

And I nearly got the SA too but I fucked up at the very last moment. I'd knocked out two guards in final room before the keypad door and since there was nowhere to really hide them I just dragged them behind a set of crates to prevent guards on the other side (not the door but where you come in from) from spotting them.

Opened the door using the code and realised too late that the two knocked out guards were very clearly visible from that door opening.

Guard sees his two unconscious buddies, I sorta panick and find a spot to hide, waiting for the guy to check out his colleagues. He does, as they always do, so I throw a crowbar at his head.

Unfortunately I forgot to close the door so the two hackers see it happen and immediately shout for help.

But wait! That's not the worst. I am now in full panick mode as the door to the room automatically closes again.

I quickly enter the code again and the door swings open and I run in taking cover behind a box. It is then that I realise that the AI was wigging out causing the two hackers to just stand there as well as all the guards in the other rooms, despite the earlier call for help.

Unfortunately the hackers spot me and make a break for the door. Now in full panick I quickly pull out my gun and sloppily shoot at the first guy in my sights, hitting him but not killing him.

In that moment the other hacker manages to run past me and to the other guards.

I quickly pop two more in the guy I shot earlier, finishing him off. I then spin around and take aim at the other guy who's running to the guards.

My aiming skills once again fail me, however, as the guy rounds the corner with bullets flying by him. The next thing I know every single guard is on high alert and actively looking for me.

I hear one of them mention that I'm disguised as a vampire looking dude (I couldn't resist) so I quickly change into a guard outfit. This does very little for me, however, as all the guards in the attic are still on full alert.

Luckily for me there's plenty of boxes, crates and whatnot to hide behind. Using that to my advantage I go into full on Splinter Cell mode, slipping past them with relative ease until I emerge from the attic unscathed.

Luck still being with me none of the guards outside of the attic seem to be aware of anything. So using my guard disguise to my advantage I quickly make my way to the balcony where Dahlia usually had a drink, hop over the railing and slide down the drain pipe to freedom.

As soon as I hit the ground I casually walk toward the helicopter, heart pounding in my throat. I managed to keep my cool and slip past two guards with dots above their heads, board the chopper and complete the mission!

Sorry for the long post but man that was tense!

A couple of years ago the original Outcast team tried to get a remake of the original game going via Kickstarter. Unfortunately they didn't reach their goal. When I found out about it I was pretty bummed because I have very fond memories of the original.

As some of you might know there was also a sequel planned at one point, but that got cancelled. Now, however, it's a time for Outcast fans to rejoice! Because even though we're not getting a direct sequel we are getting another Outcast! And who knows, if this does well enough maybe we'll get that follow up as well!

And this is one of the big reasons why I don't follow any of these idiots on Youtube, other than the fact that they're idiots.

I liked the game. It's not a perfect game by any means but I just loved running around in the city. Combat was alright. I didn't mind it but could've easily done without it. The only thing that really irritated me was the cut scenes being out of sync. A known issue that took them 3 weeks to fix. I can understand that, but they had a serious lack of communication which is what pissed people off.

For me it was the vast open world that really drew me in. On the standard difficulty the combat really isn't that great but I had quite a bit of fun once I tuned up the difficulty, forcing me to make more use of my abilities. Of course that also kind of depends on how you build your character. For me the combat was the most fun when going up against large groups of enemies with an equal or higher level, forcing me to constantly be on my toes and having to keep moving all the time.

I also don't mind Geralt as a character. I actually kind of like him. I'd call him a lovable bastard.

@zevvion: Generally speaking the combat didn't feel sloggy or unresponsive to me. On a few occasions it did seem to not do exactly what I had intended but 90% of the time Geralt performed his moves and did his actions exactly as I intended and failure felt like it was largely a case of bad timing from my end.

While I haven't experienced the confusion myself I can understand it, especially considering that not all outlets report on such things in a completely accurate manner. And while I do think the announcement is really early, especially since they have absolutely nothing to show right now it could also end up being beneficial for Microsoft because they have way more time now to market the Scorpio and thus have the potential to build up insane hype.

It works for games, it works for smartphones, why couldn't it work for a console? If done right, letting just bits and pieces of information get out (leaked or intentional) it could really serve to pique people's interest. And by getting out ahead of it (before leaks and rumors get of hand) they can control the message. And if you can control the message just right you can sell your product to a whole lot of people before it's even in stores or available for pre-order (e.g. they've already decided in their mind that they absolutely want to buy it).

Of course if they just leave things as they are now and do nothing with it then I think an early announcement like this is likely to come back and bite them in the ass. Likewise if they do keep the momentum going but they fail to deliver in the end it could do some serious damage to their reputation, not to mention their sales numbers.

So, yeah, it's a risky move by MS. One that can potentially make or break them. I'm really interested to see which way it's gonna go.

  • Wake on LAN
  • Wake timer
  • Wake on kb / mouse
  • Faulty power supply
  • Program you recently installed

Those are some of the most common reasons for a computer booting up randomly. For the first three I'd check you're BIOS settings first and just disable whatever you don't need. If you do want to use those options then:

  • Wake on LAN - make sure you select the option to only wake on magic packets (done in windows. Right click computer -> Properties. Select Device Management. Fold out the Network Adapters. Check each network adapter's energy settings
  • Wake timer - Fuck those. No reason to have these enabled unless you really want your PC to boot at a specific time.
  • Wake on kb / mouse - If you have a wireless kb and/or mouse then the signal alone can be enough to cause your PC to boot. I've had that happen several times. So if you want to have that option I'd advise turning off your kb/mouse if possible when not in use.

As for a possible power supply issue, only way to really test that is to buy a power supply tester. But even those aren't a 100% reliable. Try a different power supply and see what happens. Although I doubt that's the issue.

And yes it is entirely possible that a program you've installed has created a wake timer. Like @hmoney001 said you can use powercfg -lastwake to check. Although that doesn't always give the exact info you want but it's definitely worth a shot.
