This one isn't as good as the last one, but...

On the August 19, 2008 Bombcast, the guys are discussing Alan Wake, and how little they know about it - just that it's a Twin Peaks-esque game made by the people who made Max Payne.

Jeff says, "Telltale should make a Twin Peaks game."

While they didn't get the actual Twin Peaks license, their newest franchise, Nelson Tethers, Puzzle Agent, is very Twin Peaks-influenced.

Might as well post this here - there are two teensy tiny things that have always annoyed me when I hear them on the Bombcast.

First, and the smaller of the two, the crew (and especially Ryan) needs to learn what the hell "over/under" means. It's not a fancy way of saying "odds".

Second, and much more annoying, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE, VINNY, STOP ASKING QUESTIONS YOU KNOW THE ANSWER TO IN ORDER TO STEER THE CONVERSATION!!!! Yes, the conversations on the Bombcast wander off topic, but that's much of the charm of it! And if there's a specific point you want covered, JUST FUCKING SAY SO!

@Milkman: Not just the intro, he did all of the music you hear on the Bombcast.

You want foreshadowing? Here's foreshadowing.

On the last day of E3 '08, the crew was talking about Lego Batman, and that while it was better than Lego Indy, it was still a Lego game and they'd played a lot of those, so they were less interested. Jeff said that maybe Batdance would be in the game, and you could play as Lego Prince.

Ryan said that this was "Traveller's Tales getting into the lucrative music game business."

LEGO Rock Band would be unintentionally outed at GDC '09 nine months later, and officially announced a month after that.

@mracoon:  You are KORRECT, sir! The Giant Bombcast had Ed Boon as a guest on October 24, 2008. Every other guest who had been on before Ed was a former employee of GameSpot (Alex Navarro, Matt Rorie, Rich Gallup, Amer Ajami, Greg Kasavin) except for Dave Snider, who helped design the websites for MP3.com and TV.com, both also CNET websites.

Incidentally, Noah Ward was the second non-former employee of CNET to appear on the Bombcast, on February 26, 2009. So at least Matty was close.

@MattyFTM:  No, Giancarlo Varanini was a former employee of GameSpot.

(Had to edit this, I got my dates crossed - Giancarlo's (first) appearance was before Noah's.)

Well, at least this one wasn't answered correctly within 15 minutes of my posting it. I'm making progress, I guess.

OK, let's see how well everyone's brains are working early Sunday morning (in the U.S., anyway).

The Bombcast has had an awful lot of special guests on the show (51, to be exact). Who was the first guest to appear on the Giant Bombcast to have never worked at CNET (parent company of GameSpot)?

mraccoon came through with the correct answer:

Actually, it's not wrong, it's CORRECT! The only Tuesday since the site launch without a Bombcast was October 14, 2008, the day their flight touched down in San Francisco after TGS 2008 (Ryan mentioned picking up Saints Row 2, released on the 14th, at the Best Buy in Marin City on the way back from the airport). They'd been up for 28 hours and just couldn't hold it together enough to podcast... which is saying something.
