The game mechanics and graphics are just fine, but the story in the campaign was really weird. I didn't connect at all with the main protagonist, nor any of the other general guys you "play as" during some maps. The battles themselves are pretty good, but why would this captain/journalist guy be commanding all these troops? If he's a journalist, is he a guy in the field? If that's the case, then who am I?

It sounds like you'd want to go to college for Journalism (or Broadcast Journalism if the university of your choice makes the distinction). That's a real tough field with pretty low turnover. You'd HAVE to get an internship or work at the local college radio station to get experience and connections before landing a well paying gig. It would help a lot if the college/university you choose has a big sports presence. That may actually be a more important factor than how good the Journalism school is at that University. In this particular instance, I would advise against going to a "Community College" for 2 years, as that's two years of networking at your Uni's radio station you will be missing out on.

On the other hand, a trade school to learn a trade is a good profession that pays well right out of the gate. My friend is an experienced Welder and I have my bachelor's in Accounting and we make about the same. The big difference here is that he works nights/weekends and he can have some real rough 60 hour weeks at times, but I'm a much more steady M-F 8-5, which is important to me as I have an 8 month old son at home and I'd hate to miss out on seeing him.

Anyway...Please pick at least one or the other. I've seen people get caught up in this decision and eventually said "I didn't know which one to do, so I did neither". That's a real rough spot to put yourself in.

These are almost always on sale and have been very good to me for about 1.5 years now. They are actually on sale right now for $30:

It's not a great thing to happen, that's for sure, but i think saying it's rating was "slashed to junk status" is pretty harsh. It fell one grade- according to one credit agency's analysis- there are still two other big credit agencies (S&P and Fitch) that are reporting Sony as stable. I wouldn't say this is the beginning of the end or anything crazy like that for Sony, but I'm sure some exec is getting his ass chewed out right now.

Yeah, that's a bummer to get there just as it turns off. A "trick" you can sometimes pull off is to activate Run-And-Gun on an assault then dash to it and retrieve it on the same turn.

I think it's fantastic! I was a little skeptical at first because nothing particularly new is added to the front-end of the game, but once I started getting Meld, built a MEC Trooper, and Exalt started poppin' off, things got really interesting again-and that is coming from someone who has ~500 hours already clocked and was getting pretty bored of Xcom! I don't want to post any spoilers, but the scripted missions to introduce new elements are REALLY great in my opinion.

When I first saw it, I was ready to dismiss it out-of-hand and stick with plugging in a 360 / One controller; but after reading about it, I'm pretty impressed and I'll probably give it a shot!
