Games I Consider to Be Truly Great

These are games I've played relatively recently again, as to remove some of the nostalgia from it, so unfortunately Starwing (Starfox) can't make this list, even though I absolutely loved playing it whilst I had nothing else do do after school, it simply doesn't hold up. Also of course, no particular order, and they have to be games I still enjoy and have truly stood the test of time. I also have never owned a console before a SNES, and opted for a PS1 as opposed to an N64, so it's likely to have much fewer N64 games and probably no NES games. I may not have necessarily completed these games, but have left such a positive impression I allowed them.

  1. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

  My most played game ever, I will continue to play this every year for as long as I can.

  2. Super Mario World

  This is the quintessential 2D Mario game, but I'll understand if you pick SMB3

  3. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

  I prefer this to Ocarina of Time, even though there are many aspects that are totally messed up, I played this through that very hard to find Collector's Edition Zelda Compilation for the GameCube, it's just a marvel to play and the atmosphere is what truly carries it.

  4. Mass Effect 2

  Hands down, one of the most improved sequels ever made, I loved the first one, but after playing this, it's impossible to go back, it is superior in every way, and to those bemoaning the reduction in the role-playing elements, they were sometimes the worst parts of Mass Effect, the inventory was atrocious, and the combat simply doesn't hold a candle to the sequel.
