I think people are making a mistake asking "why would you get this instead of buying games on your console/pc?". This product is for people to get instead of buying the next console or upgrading your PC.

So the answer is that there isn't much point right now, but over the next year Stadia will make sense if they actually get the games on there. Those happy to play at 1080 will effectively be getting a console for free while those who want 4K will get a subscription service instead of buying a console.

I have no idea if Stadia will actually take off and get the games right away etc. So it might be useless, I just wanted to point out where it would fit in the market since many seem to think it doesn't fit anywhere.

This style of room-building is very specific and I think Two Point Hospital is the only other modern game using it? (as a deliberate throwback).

I am not a fan of it for a tavern game, it seems to me that cramped rooms with opportunistic placement would fit the theme much better.

Considering the tournament "ring":

Original Dragon Ball had a similar square tiled ring, so it predates most gamed.

I think this has helped enlighten why I have barely played Planet Coaster after looking forwards to its release for a long time. I enjoy the ability to build detailed scenery a lot but only as an optional activity, however it seems like the campaign structure of the game has much less to offer than even the original Rollercoaster Tycoon, meanwhile the built-in scenery of the game doesn't offer enough variety to rely on it rather than building my own (if I want your park to look somewhat realistic).

I will say however that many aspects of the game are of a great individual quality, the landscaping tools are some of the best I have ever seen for example.

Where the old games had plenty of management/coaster building challenge with very limited tools for decoration, this one seems to mainly offer tools for decoration.

I remember when World of Tanks started writing that they had the Guinness world record for largest MMO on their loading screen, even as world records go that was a load of BS.

This never really gets to the exciting parts, this game plays out a bit like FTL in terms of trying to manage things in combat and loosing characters. If you start playing this expect to spend at least half the time thinking "if only i started over I would do this so much better" as well, the game is a lot of trying to do your best, learning a lot and trying again.

In 2009 I was at a game-development summer camp for high school students in Denmark (I say camp, but it was at a university). The producer on Battlefield Karl-Magnus Troedsson (later DICE CEO) was one of the people giving talks and he was somewhat miffed to find that we were all more excited at the prospect of a Mirror's Edge sequel than the next Battlefield.

I am glad it is finally happening.

In this one they find the last things that could even go wrong other than forgetting to use the parachute.

I don't know what the delay on hints is, but here goes:

  • When you have an orbit that is pretty circular (say periapsis 80 km and apoapsis 90 km) it doesn't matter much where on the orbit you launch for the moon.
  • The Kerbal Engineer's surface module can show you a "time to impact" it is very useful because you can just focus on keeping that number from decreasing too fast and you will get a smooth landing.
  • The vessel module also has something called suicide burn (a last minute burn to use the minimum amount of fuel to land) it is shown as a distance, when it reaches zero (or negative) it is too late to stop.
  • The landing gear on your luna lander from this episode is the heaviest in the game and costs you a lot of fuel. Similarly the huge solar panels you are not using.
  • Rather than just adding more of the same size of engines+fuel, consider making the lowest stage a larger size (diameter). Each stage you make need to be significantly larger than the one above it, so this would be really helpful to make something less rickety and easier to control.
  • Try to turn much more before reaching orbit, going sideways is what actually matters going up is just to get you out of the atmosphere. You want to be going at least 45ยบ east before you have to stop burning due to the apoapsis reaching 80-100 km.
