Best of E3 2012

Pretty much what it says in the title; these are some of the best games shown on E3 that I wanna keep a close eye on.
The order is based solely on the content shown at E3 and may not be indicative at my final opinion of the games... at all.

List items

  • Impactful combat, apparently good AI companion, non-regenerating health, stealth options, scarce resources and an overall survival-ish atmosphere make this my favourite E3 2012 game.

  • It's XCOM (the strategy game!) and Firaxis. Enough said.

  • The lead designer from the original Deus Ex and Viktor Antonov team up for this game developed by the studio that brought us Arx Fatalis. I'm looking forward to employ some proper old-school stealth and also some of that nice first person melee combat that Arkane seems to like so much. I really hope the game lives up to my expectations of it.

  • The demo shown was way too action oriented for what I want from a Tomb Raider game (which is lots of climbing, exploration and environmental puzzles), but it was still good, so I'm very much looking forward to this one.

  • Perhaps the biggest surprise I've seen on this E3. I had heard that Divinity was going back to its roots, but I never expected to see something that cool, namely the way the combat plays out and how tactics are actually important. The co-op stuff also looks pretty cool and well... there's loot, lots of loot xD

  • I never saw this one coming and I had no idea what I was about to watch when I loaded up the video here on GB. I've a lot of questions about what this game really plays like in the grand scheme of things, but let's just say that I'm very curious about it. And I guess that yeah, it looks gorgeous.

  • The third person GTA games have never interested me, but for whatever reason, this one looks pretty cool. It might just be cause it reminds me of the "Infernal Affairs" movie trilogy, but the hell, I'm ready for it ^^

  • Probably the best looking game on this E3 alongside Watch Dogs, judging from the little I was able to see. The gameplay doesn't look all that exciting (or new!), but it still looks like a breath of fresh air in the Star Wars universe. It may not be the Republic Commando sequel I'm still craving for, but it's probably the closest I'll ever get at this point...

  • Not much was shown (at least that I was able to see), but it's Aliens, so I'm biased here. Anyway, all I really want from this game is a marine campaign that's as good as the one seen on AvP2-- if they accomplish that, then this will be an amazing game. If not... it's probably best to stay clear of me around that period :P

  • The single player demo (couldn't care less about the co-op for this one, to be honest) seems to show something of a huge improvement over that of Far Cry 2-- Far Cry 3 seems to have a lot more crazy stuff going on and for me personally that should always be an integral part of any Far Cry experience.

  • Anyone who knows me knows that I am NOT a fan of multiplayer games AND that I generally hate vehicular sections in FPS games. And yet... the demo for this game got me pumped. Weird, uh? Well, it happened and the game's F2P anyway, so I may as well try it whenever it comes out.

  • The name is pathetic and I was only able to get a glimpse of some footage so far, but from what I saw it looks like it's a methodical, survival horror game -- and that alone is usually enough to get me interested. Anyway, I also like that when you die in ZombiU, you start the game as a different character and your previous dude will be still a part of the game world and you can get your gear back by killing him/her-- that looked pretty cool.

  • No, "Thumbs Down" is not a game ^^ What follows is just a small list of games I was hoping to like but whose E3 demos ended up disappointing me in one way or another: Dead Space 3 (I'm sure it's a very competent shooter, but that full-on action experience they've shown is just NOT what I want from a Dead Space game). Splinter Cell: Blacklist (Double Agent was the beginning of the end, Conviction managed to question my love for this franchise and this new one seems to further aggravate my feelings for it; but again, and just like with Dead Space 3, I'm sure it's a fine shooter, just not what I want from a beloved stealth franchise). Resident Evil 6 (the demo just looked incredibly boring and all the trailers seem to point at a full-on action game and... not wanting to repeat myself, but kind of having to, this is not what I want from a Resident Evil game).
