Among the best stealth games of all time, Batman Arkham Asylum sets the standard for all future titles in the genre. My suggestion: keep the bullets scary and avoid the armor upgrades until you need them.

If you've played this opus of a game, you already know why it's here, and If you haven't, then you probably know too much about it already, and I won't spoil it further. All I ask is that you keep your inevitable love for the characters in-game and not go marrying Morrigan for real. Leave that particular atrocity firmly on Japanese shores.

You may never fight your way through a castle to save the world,, but after thirty minutes with this game, you'll be thankful for that. As much a thought experiment as a game, Demon's Souls lays bare the fantasy within our fantasies and exposes us to the harsh reality of our heroic dreams.

A game for the loot fetishist, it nonetheless manages appeal beyond its multiple squillions of weapon permutations. Borderlands is steeped in a pop culture silliness and reverence that prevents the tedium encountered in other loot games. Where the game truly shines, however, is its music and art direction. Here, the game simply has no equals.

While it's not a game without its flaws, Empire Total War still offers an amazing conquer-sim experience, replete with enough historical factoids to keep the trivial pursuer enthralled.
