8 PSone franchises that need to come back.

The following are games from generations past that have been annoyingly absent this round of consoles. A few have followed on to Wii or handheld but that doesn't count! You hear?

List items

  • Fantastic level design and variety, an excellent stealth mechanic and a genuinely gripping spy saga made Syphon Filter the highlight of my PSone gaming lifespan. The rate Syphon Filter 2 as the best game on that console, surpassing MGS and Goldeneye for spy action.

  • Vampire Diaries, True Blood and Twilight have royally fucked up the image of Vampires. A return of either Blood Omen or Soul Reaver would do much to reverse the situation. I adore both series with Soul Reaver 3 combining elements from both. Kain and Raziel's relationship is one of the most intriguing in gaming and I'd love to see how their story unfolds.

  • A few have attempted to emulate what Bushido Blade did so well but none have come close. The UFC games remind me a little of these games with the whole "one hit can end it all" style of gameplay that creates such a fantastic element of tension. A thinking man's fighter which demanded patience and technique above all else.

  • This game blew my mind when I played it. Engrossing, engaging gameplay set in a expansive, beautifully realised (for the time) noir esq futuristic city. The game was a helicopter based shooter with masses of level variety. Air combat games have fallen out of favour on consoles, a returning G Police that lives up to the first games would be epic.

  • This game was so fucking stupid it killed. A top down shooter set in an insane asylum it was one of the first games I played on my mate's cousin's playstation age about 10 and it was stupid fun. Either a DLC style duel stick shooter or even better a kind of darker Serious Sam in a third person and online score attacks could make this a real success.

  • Lateral platform puzzles with an insane almost discworld via steam punk sense of humour the Oddworld games oozed charm, wit and brain melting gameplay. Not sure how it would work in 3D (I never played Stranger's Wrath) so maybe a DLC title for a continuation of Abe's adventures would make me a happy happy gamer.

  • Motion controlled, family friendly games are in vogue. No new Point Blank game. What the hell am I missing? Make this happen!

  • I know Tenchu X came out but this game needs a GOOD follow up. One of the first if not the first 3D stealth games another series of misspent Friday evenings on my mate's cousin's Playstation. Tenchu 3 on the PS2 may have been my favourite stealth experience on that console, the fact the franchise seems to have been forgotten after Tenchu X is a real loss to gaming,
