I think I was more looking at the investigations and going "holy crap... there is a lot of these". The "Optional" ones I've been doing, b/c there are only a few every now and then, and they seem to have obvious rewards that I should want.
And it seems that those are more for targeted farming, so I'll hold off on those :D
Only a few hours in but I now have what seems like a million optional/event/whatever side missions I can do.
Should I be doing these all or is it more just do the ones that have rewards I want/need? Should I just be mainlining the main quests as much as I can to unlock better stuff? Just curious on the general flow of quests and if I'm wasting time doing all these side things for stuff that could be irrelevant 2 main missions from now
If I'm thinking about transferring over for the xpac, but I have too much money (character transfers are limited to 1mil gil) what's a good gil dump to buy before coming over?
What's the pop and activity of the Ultros guild. My buddy and I just got back in to FFXIV and don't have a FC currently and would totally server transfer over.

You are right, that the base systems you just need to get your hands on, but 30$ is a decent buy-in price. Is the 30$ package decent or would I be hamstringing myself by not going for the big one? Don't think I wanna get the higher one w/o trying first is my only hesitation there.
