@niko_of_death: I agree completely that AEW needs to focus on an identity. As the saying goes: "In trying to satisfy everybody, you satisfy nobody." They're still in their infancy so they should figure it out eventually, but the first thing they need to do is dump JR from the booth. I know they respect the hell out of him but he not only has lost his fastball, he can barely reach the plate right now. I actively do not want to hear him call a wrestling show.

Mission: Impossible 2

Dan would love this movie. Its John Woo so stuff like "plot" and "coherent story" isn't exactly a priority. It's fine for what it is, but this couldn't be more different in tone, style, EVERYTHING from the first one.

A Moxley/Omega feud is the first instance of AEW getting my attention. IMO, Moxley is probably their best weapon to attract the more casual WWE audience they need to grow their fanbase. Flabby-ass Chris Jericho? Less so.

I saw the gif of Cody's little sledgehammer deal. Hopefully they got that shit out of their system tonight.

@dizzyhippos: You can't compare the 1995 market to the 2019 market. You just can't. SO MUCH has changed and not only wrestling but almost all streaming services have conditioned people to expect a lot for a small price. That's probably why WWE Network has stayed $9.99 five years in when they probably could have bumped it to around $15 by now.

Double or Nothing being $50 is probably the first major misstep AEW has made and it probably wasn't even their decision. It'll probably do OK because of the novelty of a new company, but they've probably lost a good chunk of the "I'm not digging WWE right now, let me try these guys out" audience at this price point.

The near fall after Johnny took out the rest of UE was magical. I totally bought that Cole was about to steal the title. The first two falls did feel pretty perfunctory, but if matches like the first Omega/Okada match (which took about 10-15 minutes to actually get going) get lauded, then this one should too for an absolutely incredible final stretch.

So I guess Ronda isn't leaving just yet with that finish. Kinda abrupt, but at least there weren't a million finisher kickouts.

That was a damn good Mania top to bottom.

And there's the match of the weekend. And probably top 10 in Mania history.

@sombre: That had to be the biggest stretch to make a "lol WWE doesn't make sense" post I've seen in a while. There's lower hanging fruit than this, my friend.

I'm probably going to rewatch it to be sure, but Dunne/WALTER didn't grab me as much as I expected it to.

Rest of the show was balls out awesome, though the main event got kinda ridiculous at the end. Cole could have dropped the scoreboard onto Gargano and still would've only got 2. Great moment at the end, though.
