What bothers me the most is how they are apparently so excited and happy, they must know that this will not be viewed as an universally positive move right? Reactions seem to be mostly negative from the community. I would at least expect them to acknowledge that people are worried or pessimistic about this.
When they act (?) so freaking happy and excited I just get more worried, because either they don't understand what the community liked about Giantbomb, or they are "faking" it. I bet this whole sell-out of WM sites is not all born out of amazing opportunities, but out of necessity because they were quickly going bankrupt.
I simply cannot be optimistic about this, because I've never seen a company not change for the worse after a sell-out like this. I will still support them for as long as I feel they deserve it, and I hope they are the exception to the rule in these cases. But this whole "We are so happy we got bought by the same thing we have been 'fighting' against, and we are going to pretend you dont notice it by being crazy excited" makes me very worried.
Those were my thoughts exactly while watching the stream, for news as big as this, they could have acted a bit more serious. I get the jovial attitude the crew usually has towards things, and maybe they were just keeping up appearances, but hell, getting sold to a huge company isn't a funny thing, instead of asking questions like, "will there still be a brick wall", I wish they would've covered at least a few of the more serious questions people were asking.
I won't jump to any conclusions, but it does feel like people should prepare themselves for some crazy stuff, not necessarily the good kind either.
So they were acting like they always do? Are you guys new here or something? What a silly thing to complain about.
