" Japanese gamers didn't face this level of problems, so it may be a Firmware issue specific to Western regions. It should be sorted out for most people, but as ever some are just unlucky and get faulty units.

I don't know where that discussion was heading, but I think the point here is that games like Mario Kart will likely released before some 3DS lite.
It has been kinda quiet, also I'm told people pre-ordred it. So my guess is that they take it easy now with stuff like Pilotwings to showcase what the 3DS can do for us who play games alot, then they go for it when the heavy hitters and online shops arrive.
