@alexisg: I appreciate it duder! And Dave could have been more apologetic, he could have atleast sent us a video of him riverdancing. :P But seriously, thank you so much for all you guys do. And thank you for not being like every other site out there and rage banning people as soon as people freak out. You guys always have been and continue to be the most level headed people in the industry in my opinion when it comes to your target audience. From from GS to APD to GB, I've been following the crazy journey for a while, and it's always quality when you guys are running the show.

Also, I like hearing that GS engineers are helping, though I think we both know what it means if the technology won't listen, even after you get a translator and perform programming rituals and keyboard sacrifices... It may be a nice temp player, but you may want to look for even another one until it finally listens.

@alexisg: I see it getting... better atleast and that does make me happy. My issue was how all issues with the website are being handled right now, primarily the video player,

Jeff came out rather bluntly on his Jars video stating that you guys aren't looking to fix website issues unless they are seriously breaking the experience, stuff like the fact that we don't have certain tabs for easy navigation and all that rot. With that video being a subscriber only video, it felt a bit like a giant middle finger, telling us we need to shut up and wait for 6months to a year for when GB 3.0 rolls out. Maybe he didn't mean that, maybe he did, I know Jeff is one of those guys who'd rather rip the bandaid off and put it straight than try to sugarcoat the situation and I definitely respect that about him, but I really hope support for the old code isn't going to die off so much that, when the new code breaks the old, we have to wait 2-3 weeks just to use 'insert feature name here'.

I appreciate the effort that is coming from you to now communicate with us about this and make it right as quickly as possible. I think that was the biggest reason people started rage so hard, myself included, was that we saw this on Dave's twitter and then an hour later all hell breaks, and for just about 10 hours we got nothing, videos were still being put out but there were no forum posts, articles or twitter posts about what the hell was going on, though I can imagine alot of it was you guys running around like chickens with your heads cut off just trying to recreate bugs, figure out the cause and fix them.

I am sorry to GB for atleast my fit of rage during this. Since you guys went back to CBSi we've been sitting on a bed of pins and needles and as soon as something goes wrong, and this time with GSpot tech, we go ape shit. We were told over and over that CBSi would only be a positive and many of us are old Gspot members from back in the day and remember how bad things used to be and to some respect, still are to this day. That said, many thing have been fixed since getting away from their old parent company and bringing in management and backers who aren't bat-shit crazy with ideas to monetize and more or less exploit the userbase. I'm hyped now for GB 3.0 and the E3 coverage this year and the new video player has to be running perfectly by that time, I think all of us can agree, we'd rather have a few QLs bug out than have E3 be ruined by new code.

Cheers

I like his idea of making people guess, but honestly he should have alteast given a bit of an idea out and then made backer goals like at $250 I reveal the title and at $500 I reveal my alpha build and at $1000 I invite all backers to help beta test... Market it! The real problem with this is that he admitted that he can make these games without kickstarter and now plans to ask for money AFTER they are done. Now while it costs money to publish titles, it sounds more like he's going to use Kickstarter to popularize and then monetize the property, using Kickstarter as the marketplace. That's not any better, infact that's probably worst than funding a 'mystery' game that may never come out. Kickstarter is not the poorman's Steam, nor should it be used just to make money off an already finished property nor use it just to make your game more popular.

Things just seem to get worst, I really think subscribers just got dumped on, free viewers have the Youtube option, on the freaking video screen, with a working HD mode. Yet we pay and we are stuck with either messing around with this shit player which now won't let many people switch to 720p and looked like compressed garbage when it did. I really don't get it guys, you said 2 things when taking this deal 1. CBSi will not affect you guys, you will not have restrictions and you won't be forced to do anything and 2. That you would 'have more money to continue doing the crazy off the wall shit that we always do.'

This is the same crap that Gamespot has and it still has issues with many many people trying to view their videos, while it's the minority having issues, it's sloppy and lazy of them to continue using it. Now you're using it, using a tech that has known issues to plague your videos with. Sure the other player wasn't anything special but it worked.

Compression like this shouldn't happen, your videos should look crisp and clean unless you're trying to save bandwidth and that shouldn't be happening if you've 'got more money'

Not to sound entitled but this pissed me the f off. I don't want Gspot shit, I want Giantbomb shit, because your shit explodes and it's good and messy and stuff. :P But seriously guys, what the hell were you thinking by not only making this change but forcing it down our paying throats? You should have atleast made it an option to have 'new shit player' and 'old amazing player'. (Those should be the exact names too) Seriously guys, seriously, seriously... Seriously! Fix this.

A 'lifetime' contract won't hold up in court and when I was offered a partnership with them, it stated that either side could terminate the contract at any time, though that may have changed over time. The fact remains, every legal contract must have a termination clause and that clause can only hold legitimate penalties. ie. Machinima doesn't own Youtube, they are not allowed to sue him over technology they don't own, nor police. They are not allowed to bind him to those types of constrictions. Legally, it would never hold up and the bad PR is going to kick them in the ass. They need to make right with him and try to hold on to what dignity they have left before all of their 14 year old 'producers' turn around and decide to worship this kid.

Yeah, they can count me out. I don't want an MMO that will no doubt be Freemium with shit like XP boosts, ammo packs and health kits for sale. It's a damn slippery slope when you have a post apocalyptic game on a F2P basis. The devs and publishers can exploit the players very easily, charging for the bare essentials and calling it a game mechanic. Where-as some games charge for mounts to move around easily, this game could charge for a water bottle to make living easier.

Nobody knows how to read, do they? The article clearly states that the guy bought this on March of 2010, DAO had only come out in Nov of 2009. The game was under a year old at that time and was priced at $55. This was around the same time that EA was doing similar things with Mass Effect 2 and just before EA started using 'online pass' for it's sports games. The problem right now is that Gamestop could argue that Online Pass shouldn't be included because it's not 'additional free downloadable content' but rather the ability to use an online function, essentially using the argument that they aren't sued for people who buy online games and can't play online because they never notified anyone of the fees for Xbox Live. Not to mention, some of the boxes even state that online play requires an online pass.

I believe they need the PR though right now as they prepare for what essentially is the start of a transition state for them. They have to be worried about the coming consoles and what it means for their business model on used games. They've also gotten a lot of attention and general flak (most of it appropriate) because of UK retailer Game going into bankruptcy and then being bailed out. Both of them treated the industry the same, both pushed used games with careless abandon and both more or less tried to rip customers off with their 'used prices' and 'trade in deals' which essentially was, you can save $5 on any used game and we'll pay you $10 for a game we then sell for $55. I believe that if this settlement goes well, and the interest is shown (after a masquerade of them hyping people on whether to do it or not) they'll use it as a promotion rather than legal settlement, $10 in store credit, $5 cash, sign a paper that you won't sue us and we'll throw in an addition 5% trade in value!

And also, what's stopping them from changing their customer agreement stating that they are not responsible for 'addition DLC', 'codes given for DLC' and any 'non-Gamestop promotions that may or may not involve DLC being included with a copy of the game'?

O let's face it, it'll be God of War Move, where Kratos has a dance off with all the other Gods as they sort through the 'Pandora's Box Archives' to relive the good ole memories.
