That cartoons today, aren't as good as the 80s or 90s ones?
Think about it...

Is Trap Door counted as a cartoon? That's what always comes to mind when thinking of childhood TV! Well, that and My Little Pony...

Posted by Droop

Yes. The old Disney movies were amazing. Now it's all animals fighting each other in 3D :x

Posted by DeShawn2ks

I used to think that but now going back I don't know.

No, but thanks for reminding me, that show was awesome :D

@BeachThunder: Haha I know! Berrkk! Feeddd meee! Best ever!

In all honesty I think most tv shows from back then were better than the rubbish they show these days. What was up with Lazy town?! And those weird flubbles, thimbles, I don't know but they were brightly coloured and burned in the morning!

Thank you OP, your observation is something that has never been pondered about before and has changed my view of the world.

yes, i've noticed that for a while now. it is sad that cartoons are changing into terrible stuff and stations are changing. cartoon network use to be cartoons all the time but now from time to time i see people on there. there use to be a few learning experiences from cartoons but now there aren't.

I don't watch many cartoons anymore. Which is totally because YES THEY SUCK!! :'(. All the new series of cartoons I loved are pure, filtered human excrement, too.

Cartoons were never good.

A lot of the ones people loved when they were younger are just utter shit. I saw an episode of Thundercats  a little while ago and it was one of the worst things ever. The intro is still ace though.

Man I was so terrified of that scene when they turned into the Sharks on the first episode. When they're eating burgers, or something.

Cartoons were good in the 80's-90's to people who were kids in the 80's-90's. There was a lot of shit in the 90's too, I remember being super pissed off I had to wait a couple time slots before the good shows started. Cartoons are probably adored the same by kids this generation. Then in about 10 years they're going to complain and say how good their shows were.

There used to be a cartoon where there was this Blond Kid, and his dad was like a CIA agent and he went all over the world fighting bad guys, there was alot of shooting in it too, which was kinda odd for a cartoon. The blond kid may have been named Johnny and they had an RV or something which they used as a homebase. Anyone have any Ideas?

I really don't remember much of it, but when i was like 5 it would come on TV and my parents would change the channel because they thought it was too violent. I Know it was meant for kids though but i cant remember what the name of it was.

Cartoons have always been crap, and always will be. The difference is that we like the ones we watched as kids, and we don't like the ones after that.
They haven't changed one bit.

This is true for the most part. However allot more care is taken in making sure kids are not  "infected" by the violence of T.V. and that the world is portrayed as perfect. Go back and watch episodes of show like hey Arnold and Rocco modern life and you will see more adult themes then you realized as a kid. Also a show like Dragonball would have to much violence and sex jokes. I remember in beast wars there was whole plot thread of cheetor being in love with black arachnidna and being torn between is team and her. You wont see that on Madagascar.

@Knucklesthegreat: Your thinking of late 80's cause 80's cartoons are terrible but the 90's was great and early 2000's
Posted by SethPhotopoulos
@supermike6: That's not true.  It's like all other mediums where there is alot of crap but there are good ones too.  Ducktales and Darkwing Duck still holds up and the entire DCU aswell as tiny toons, animaniacs, and freekazoid.

They suck donkey dick. The Japanese made ones are too far out and the home-made (whichever your country is) ones are too BLEH and MEH.

There have been plenty of good cartoons, you guys are just forgetting any bad ones that used to exist and you're nostalgic.

This is true. But only those of us who grew up with the 80's cartoons truly know whose right.

I liked cartoons back in the day like... ninja Turtles, Megas XLR, Justice league (unlimited), and Samurai jack.

I think that cartoons nowadays look a lot sharper or well drawn than the older ones. But if anyone remembers Anamaniacs it is still king in my books.

It makes me sad.

Yea, for the most part, cartoons aren't as good as they once were. Sure, you have [adult swim] and Adventure Time (yes, it's actually good), but what happened to the awesome stuff, like Billy & Mandy, or Angry Beavers?

Posted by bonbolapti

I KNOW. I've been waching a lot of astroboy. AND Christ there's a lot of bad things that happen on the show.
It's great :D
