Long-time Total War fan reviews Rome 2 0

Ever since the original Shogun sucked me into the series and real time strategies 15 years ago, I've been a fan of the Total War series. I still am, in some ways. In others? Not as much. Rome 2 is partly the reason for this.In many ways, the game is gorgeous. In others, it is a stark, dark reality of ugliness and mediocrity. There are a few things that save it from being an absolute disaster. There are also a few things that save it from being absolutely amazing.Let's start with the gorgeous. Fi...

AAA Title Leaves a Disappointed, Sour Taste 0

Bear with me on this one, this game brings in a lot of emotions. It's a bit of a topsy-turvey type of emotional rollercoaster that I feel when thinking of this game, so forgive me if I don't make as much sense as I should, or if I just seem overly conflicted. But before I review the actual game itself, I'll give a slight background so you can see my point of view. One of the first games I ever played for the Playstation 3 was the original Assassin's Creed game. While it did get a lot of positiv...

Great Indie Game Title May Be a Little Too Addictive 0

I'm usually not that big on "indie" games, especially platformers, but every so often a game will come along and totally catch me by surprise. I'm pleased that Game Dev Tycoon was one such game. A big weakness this game has is also one of its big strengths - and that is its simplicity. While the simplicity will have you wanting to do *more* with the game, there is enough of the addictive gameplay to keep you plugging away. Sometimes longer than you expected or wished. There is also one great si...

Great point-and-click / mystery title 0

I didn't have high expectations going into this. Point-and-click adventures seem to be drawing me in lately, and mostly because when I go in with low expectations, I play a game like this and come out greatly pleased. The quirky and sometimes humorous dialogue in this is enough to make the game worthwhile. Added in the great story of the old, mysterious conflict between Templars and Assassins (a la Assassin's Creed variety, but a bit different), as well as mystery and intrigue rolled in with so...

"Aged" Title Is a Mind-Bending Ride, Well Worth Visiting or Revisiting 0

Unfortunately, I won't be able to give a full review without revealing a massive list of spoilers that will, I fear, at least somewhat ruin the experience for those intrigued enough to try this game out. Take my word for it, or don't. This game is well worth whatever time and money you are willing to invest in it. It's a classic from 1995, and a point-and-click adventure game. So if you're looking for super, drool-inducing graphics and killer 1337 gameplay mechanics, such as noscope headshotz an...

Last of Us is stunning and immersive... the story will drag you in and leave you wanting more! 0

In a gaming world of AAA games, Indie games, MMOs and not much in between, the Last of Us tells an amazing story based in the post-apocalypse U.S.A. The storyline really drives the game forward, and the tale is woven in a sometimes terrifying and exhilarating atmosphere that is both immersive and addicting. My favorite game of all time before playing this was Final Fantasy 7. This is just given to illustrate to you how often I change the status of games that I call the top one I've ever played. ...

Great atmosphere, great potential, IAA leaves players in the dust 0

I was torn between giving this a half star and just one star or a star and a half. Let me be honest with you - this game was enjoyable for the most part. But the storyline leaves you so high and dry and is for lack of a better word, abysmal. Worst ending of pretty much any story I've ever bothered to reach the end of, to be honest with you. The game was also limited in a lot of areas that just seemed like it would have so much potential.Let me get down to the points of what was GOOD about this g...

Heavy Rain is as innovative as it is breathtaking 0

The thing that really drives this game is the storyline. If you have any kind of curiosity, or find yourself drawn to complex yet mysteries plots, you will be drawn in pretty fast. We are talking pretty edge-of-your-seat and pretty heart-pounding, through all but the most apathetic points of the game. Due to the control system, and having to control pretty much every aspect of the characters' lives, we're talking about some pretty run-of-the-mill, taking a shower and shaving, everyday life parts...

A grandiose remaking of an amazing classic! 0

I remember being introduced to the series on a High School friend's original Playstation (as in, PS1 or PSX). While the atmosphere seemed a little darker then, the overall experience is still there. I enjoyed both the original and this greatly called-for remake.I'll hit on a few points.I would list the gameplay that improved on from the original, but let's face it, 18 years after the original game's 1st release, and you'd have to expect everything to be improved on. And it was.I'll hit on a few ...

AC 3 delivers, only a little to be desired (some spoilers) 0

I really enjoyed the game itself immensely, but was pretty disappointed in the ending. I will try and refrain from using spoilers as much I can. I really hate giving away information to people who are genuinely interested in the game, so if you want to be completely surprised, trust me, you will. Now go buy the game. Other readers / skeptics, continue on.I'll hit on a few downsides to the game, then get to the good stuff.- Glitches. While I hadn't come across more than a handful, glitches are no...
