You won't believe how annoyed I was when Windows Vista was crapping on me...again. So, I try to play
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 (wanted to get back into it) and notice the display settings are on 800x600, although the game looks like it's in 1024x768. It was annoying me, so I changed it to 1024x768 - the correct resolution. I was clueless to why things like this happen in Windows Vista.
BAM. As soon as I changed it, my monitor shows 'SIGNAL OVER RANGE!!' message (yes, it did have two exclamation points). From this point, there is nothing to do (since the computer is sending the wrong signal to the monitor). I could not see a thing on my monitor (other than that annoying message generated by the monitor) and so I had to shut down the computer (the flick-the-switch way) and then start it up again. Thankfully, I can see things are back to normal. However, when I go back into
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2, it craps out on me again. Yep - I had to shut it off another time.
Next time I got back to the desktop, I made sure to uninstall it and then re-install it, which restored the display settings for the game. I also installed the two expansions packs too, whilst I had the CDs (I got them all in one box now thanks to
World of RollerCoaster Tycoon bundle). Now, regarding this silly signal over range thing - I never had this problem on Windows 98 or Windows XP when running
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. I know Windows Vista kept doing similar things when I first had it installed. The monitor I am using I used with Windows XP just to let you know.

Working on a new section of park with an oriental theme.
Anyway, all is fine now. I decided to leave it on 800x600 but I know for sure it is showing up in 1024x768. I spent a few hours setting up a sandbox for my mega park. Once I done that, I begun work on my new park. I kept quitting the game every hour or so as I just couldn't feel gripped. I used to spend much longer on this. It's still great, though.
The title of this blog was indeed because I was confused, clueless. I could not understand why things like this happen in this operating system. It was also the fact that I finally gave in and watched
Clueless, the movie on television earlier (was putting this one off for many years). It wasn't too bad, surprisingly.
PS - Yes, I am at Year 3, not a lot of guests but things will pick up when I finally expand the park (there's more than just that screenshot).
