The Treyarch version, I guess.
The Treyarch version, I guess.
If you don't know this reference, you don't know Steve. There's a Quantum of Solace video game due out soon, which is of course based on the motion picture, due out here in the UK at the end of October (November in US). I've always liked James Bond (the movies) and I can only recall myself ever enjoying a James Bond video game once. That was GoldenEye on Nintendo 64, which happens to be one of my favorite movies too - ever.

Now, I played the first James Bond title on PlayStation 2 (I remember receiving this in 2001, I think as one of a few titles to play on my new PlayStation 2). I didn't really like it to be quite honest. Then again, I didn't like a lot of shooters back on PlayStation 2. I used to play a lot of franchises on PlayStation 2 but did have the odd games every now and then.

For different platforms, there are different developers for Quantum of Solace:
  • Beenox (Wii, Windows)
  • Eurocom (PlayStation 2)
  • Treyarch (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360)
  • Vicarious Visions (Nintendo DS)

Now, Beenox I clearly remember them being randomly chosen to develop the Bee Movie Game, which wasn't all that good for kids, as even I found it a little frustrating. Eurocom, probably some budget title developer are probably just trying to earn the publisher (and them) a bit of cash to appeal to the users on PlayStation 2. I have a feeling this will be the worse platform to play the title on because of the developer.

Don't get me started on Treyarch. I played Spider-Man 3. A very glitchy title and one of the most frustrating titles I have ever played on my Xbox 360. Oh, didn't they do Call of Duty 3? I see they're nearly done with the new Call of Duty title and so it must be a busy year for them. Although, Quantum of Solace may look a bit promising because it uses the Call of Duty 4 engine. Of course, I think Treyarch are developing the best versions (clearly from them being associated with current consoles). Vicarious Visions. Hmm, I don't remember playing any portable titles from them but I think there were a few titles on PlayStation 2 from them I played. Maybe a Crash Bandicoot title?

It's a little tempting to buy Quantum of Solace but there are way too many titles now. I already did an impulse buy on Pure and have pre-ordered Lego Batman (released here in UK soon). It's not even November yet (and we all know what game I want then). Damn it - I got signed out of Giant Bomb but luckily I copied this blog entry to the clipboard. Phew.
