Honestly, it was a lot of the subtler things which tended to be hair-raising for me. It's been a long time since I've gone through and played it, so I can't really deal in specifics, but I remember a lot of the more minute details which the game had tended to intensify the atmosphere for me rather than just one momentary instance. That's just me, though.

I tend to have a somewhat pessimistic outlook and life philosophy, so to that extent I can somewhat relate to certain sects of the emo demographic. Having said that, though, I choose not to identify with them, per se, over a lot of skepticism I have. The fashion which is typically associated with it also proves to be too much of a hassle for to use on a consistent basis, anyway. Besides, as a girl, it's hard to properly pull off that look very well and I just don't really feel like devoting that much time into that particular realm of superficiality.

I'm going to state that despite some perceived societal perceptions of atheists, we're not all completely adamant and bonkers about Spore and what it represents. I myself happen to be one and I couldn't care less about whether it promotes one ideal over another. Rather, I'm much more interested in the potential dynamics which could arise from a sociological perspective, given that it's a single-player game which still has a lot communal influences from other users on the Internet.

But that's just one atheist's perspective: my own. I can't speak for the others, though, so I won't try.

Although I haven't personally witnessed any such thing, I can't help but ponder a lot of different things about the beings beyond our planet's reach.

For example, sometimes I'll wonder things like "Could there be any life which has advanced beyond us in its own unique ways and if so, has this particular species' denizens made better decisions than what we've been historically known for?"

I don't really doubt their existence, but I also have to wonder when we'll stumble upon proof and how we'll come to determine that it's indisputably true. I suppose I'll leave that to the future generations to figure out, though.

Looking back on this post, I guess I got a bit tangential. Ah well.

The depressing thing is that removing the cat from the equation is the only thing that's needed to bring about something remotely humorous from what was originally a soulless comic strip. Jim Davis might have just been better off with not including the lasagna-eater in the first place, if the success of Garfield minus Garfield is any indicator.
