I feel like in Halo (the shooter I play the most), split screen has an advantage. I've gotten used to watching my friends' screens and it allows you to get a much better feel for what's going on around the map. Halo's so much slower than CoD though. I could see it definitely fucking up your game in that.
I was trying to think of some good ones but after reading some posts, yeah, most videogame concepts don't sound all that great but a lot somehow end up working. For example the most fun part of Crackdown wasn't killing enemies or driving cars, but collecting those fucking orbs. lol
