Best of 2012

The best games of 2012 imo.

List items

  • The defining title of the year for me, a beacon of hope in a medium that I am constantly questioning my time being spent with. Fun is great and I love having fun, but some times I just want to experience what its like to be a real monster and video games above all other forms of entertainment can provide that.

  • For years I had waited for a Dragonball Z game that truly encompassed the absurdity of that show, very few anime even come close to matching it and even fewer games so thank god Asura finally came along and showed it was possible.

  • I watch transformers, I collect transformers and I sure as fuck play transformers games and thankfully High Moon finally made one truly worthy of the license which surprisingly had some of the funnest multiplayer I've played since UT2004.

  • Better than Diablo 3 but certainly could have used more variety in its content, nonetheless didn't stop me from sinking over over 80 hours in to it.

  • Probably says a lot that even the people who bitch and moan about D3 played over a 100 hours of it, myself included.

  • Almost made up for Duke Nukem Forever, almost, maybe if Colonial Marines turns out amazing we can call it even Gearbox.

  • Didn't live up to the potential established by the original but gosh darn do I just love the Darksiders universe so much.

  • The first free to play game I found myself coming back to regularly. Incredibly simple but a great way to kill time, especially when listening to podcasts and man do I wish they sold toy versions of their mechs, such awesome art direction.

  • Many people hated it, many people say it was little more than a collection of things from other rpgs with a somewhat competent real time combat system. I sure enjoyed my time with Amalur, definitely more than Skyrim since I actually finished it AND all its dlc. Rest in peace 38 Studios.

  • I was ready to leave ME3 off this list, no matter how much I enjoyed many parts of it overall the game just made me stop caring about the franchise and really hope whatever Bioware does with it next is very VERY different.
