I am in the same boat. Anyone feel free to add me. I am not the most active Multiplayer guy, but the bug strikes me every once in a while.

Still so sad about the news. I never met the man or had any interaction with him, but this hurts all the same. I was listening to an old bombcast when I read the news. It was surreal and terrible. I really hope he had a good life. Most evidence points to it. He definitely had a positive effect on mine, even if it was just the comfort of listening to the bombcast when I needed a laugh. He will be missed. That is obvious, I just wanted to add my voice to the chorus on this.

Ok, my question is: What does this do to games that counted on using "The Cloud" for processing data and what not? I think I remember from one of the recent podcasts that TitanFall was going to use the cloud for bot AI, and there is that Driveatar whosawhatsit with Forza. How does this drastic change affect those games?

The R&C movie looks like it perfectly captures the spirit of the games. I am especially pleased that they are using the voice cast from the games. This seems like it has been the endgame for that series since it first started. I am kinda excited to see it. Heavenly Sword could be cool too I guess. I haven't thought about that game since I first beat it about 5 years ago, and since I doubt too many people played it, I wonder what the thinking was for picking up this IP. I will probably check it out when it shows up inevitably on Netflix instant.

I hate how everything interesting that was going with star wars is being killed off by Disney. There was no guarantee that 1313 would have been any good, but it sure looked awesome. I loved clone wars, and now it is dead, not because of ratings or because it was the natural time to end the show, but because of back room politics. This Disney deal is getting worse all the time.

Can't wait. If it turns out anywhere near as good as the first two, this will be the reason for my next PC upgrade.

I am at a point in my life where I don't know that many people that play games period. If they do it is on consoles, and they are not nearly interested enough in gaming to figure out how to pirate on consoles. Personally, I don't have the time to play what I own legitimately what with steam sales and what not. I could stop acquiring games today, and have still have unplayed single player content available to me for at least 5 years. Maybe more. I have a lot of PS1 and 2 RPGs that I will probably lug along with me for the rest of my life. I have no need or desire to risk malware infection downloading from torrents or what ever else people use to pirate games. I have downloaded emulators for old systems. When my launch PS3 broke, I lost the ability to play PS2 games. With the emulator, I can just pop the disk into my computer and play it there, sometimes with vastly better graphics, mostly with weird glitches. It is good enough, but I wonder if that still counts as piracy. I bought a PS2, which I still have sitting broken in the closet. I bought all the games. I just have a different way to play them now.

I tried DOTA2 for 2 matches. I was yelled at repeatedly and had my intelligence, sexuality and the virtue of my mother called into question. I learned nothing about how to actually play a MOBA from the experience. From what I hear about the time commitment involved to get good at them, I don't think I will ever try one again.

It is getting near the end of the year, and I have started seeing posts on a few web sites about how 2012 is a pretty dire year for games. I believe in the article IGN wrote about this, 2012 is the worst year for retail games since 2006, which I don't remember being all that bad, but maybe I just wasn't paying as much attention. 60 dollar retail games were probably always a sketchy investment for companies to make, but in this market it seems like it is just a dumb investment. I am not saying anything new, I know.

Now I was looking back at the games I have been playing this year, and I think I might be part of the problem. I have bought and played exactly three games that were made this year: Mass Effect 3, Walking Dead, and Assassin's Creed 3, and Walking Dead isn't even a full retail. Instead of new games, I have been cheap, taking advantage of Steam Sales and GameFly for my gaming needs. What worries me is that if most people do this, the 60 dollar retail games that I eventually buy a year later for 10 bucks or less will just stop being made and we will live in a world where the only new games being made are cheap mobile and tablet games. I have tried em. I don't like em. Even the supposedly killer app ones like Horn or N.O.V.A. 3 are just boring, and difficult to control.

Personally 60 dollars is more than I have to spend on a video game. It is like how 20 bucks is more than I have to spend to take my wife and myself out to see a movie. I just can't justify the investment on more than 2 or 3 a year. I have bills to pay. I don't think I am the only one.

I know I missed out on some decent games this year. I will eventually get to them, when they are cheap and I have time, and since I have no real interest in multiplayer, I won't miss out on much getting to them late. Right now that well of interesting games that I have to dip into is at least half way full. What worries me is that well might dry up completely in just a few years.
