This is readily observable. Amateur minimalist reinterpretations of popular movie posters are already kind of a cliche, and most of them are comically half-assed.

Current generation would probably be Braid. I think Blow's reach extends his grasp as a writer, but I can't fault him for being ambitious, and the puzzle design itself was excellent. There are still a bunch of games this gen I think I'd really like that I just haven't gotten around to yet, though (namely Demon/Dark Souls, Neir and Journey).

All-time is way too broad and way too inconstant to say for sure. In general I like Team Ico and older Silent Hill games, I guess.
