HTML5 videos still won't play in Edge. It's not a problem with my system, since HTML5 videos on other websites play fine in Edge.

Using Edge with Flash disabled, and website just displays a black box for videos with the message 'Please use a Flash or HTML5 capable browser to watch videos.' Edge is HTML5 capable and I watch HTML5 videos all the time on other websites like YouTube, etc.

I'm guessing hardcore survival mods will be created where settlement building, resource management & defense are critical to success. In the vanilla game, that stuff is really just optional for people who just like the sandbox fun associated with building and defending a settlement.

I am so glad I read about this before I bought the game. I don't use iOS or Android, so I don't want to fucking have that shit waved in my face in a game I pay $60 for. This type of coercive "cross-marketing" (or whatever the fuck they call it) in full-priced games is an utterly offensive and obnoxious trend that needs to stop. It gets worse every year. The people in the marketing departments at the big game publishers who force this type of cross-marketing crap onto and now into our games need to be called on the carpet for it. Review scores need to go down because of it. In Unity it sounds like Ubisoft has taken things to a new intrusive low by dangling inaccessible content in players' faces inside the game itself. Stop roping off game content unless we jump through the various cross-marketing hoops like good little consumers. It was already bad enough when it wasn't dangled in your face while you are playing the game. All of the following bullshit needs to die:

  • Pre-order exclusive content
  • Retailer-specific content
  • Join-our-shitty-community-on-the-web exclusive content
  • Install-our-shitty-publisher-specific PC app/storefront exclusive content
  • Download-our-shitty-phone-app exclusive content
  • Let-our-CEO-fuck-you-in-the-ass exclusive content

In case you can't tell, this shit makes me fucking mad. Fuck you Ubisoft. Maybe if the game programmers didn't have to spend time implementing all this extra bullshit for your marketing idiots, the game itself wouldn't be so full of bugs.

P.S. Patrick, please do not encourage them by implying that they need to start roping off more valuable pieces of content if they want you to jump through their cross-marketing hoops. I don't think that's what you meant to imply, but the marketing jackasses at the big publishers are so stupid to begin with, I wouldn't put it past them to interpret it that way.

I have had one R2 trigger break exactly the same way. It had started to become somewhat loose over the year since launch. Then shortly after the Destiny release it started to stick such that it was unusable. I bought a new one, and now the R2 is starting to get lopsided/loose on that one as well after only a month or so. Sony needs to redesign the DS4 to make the triggers more durable. This is an obvious design flaw that Sony needs to correct sooner rather than later.

People will buy peripherals when they see gameplay that is appealing enough to them. Unbundling Kinect from the Xbox One doesn't spell doom for either. Dance & fitness games weren't appealing to me so I never bought a Kinect, but on the other hand I did go out and buy Guitar Hero with the bundled Guitar, and millions of others spent hundreds of dollars to buy the complete set of peripherals for Rock Band, etc. And as you point out, 24 million people did go out and buy Kinect for the 360. Sony can't keep their PS4 camera in stock because they underestimated the popularity of using it for live streaming.

People who are fans of dance and fitness games will continue to buy Kinect, as will people who want try their hand at competing with Spookin-with Scoops with their own live-streams on Twitch, and people who want to Skype with friends and family using the living room TV. And if developers come up with additional types of "killer-apps" for Kinect, it's popularity will continue to increase beyond that base.

I'm browsing GB using the swanky new IE app on my Xbox 360, and I can't watch any of the QuickLooks because they require the antiquated Adobe Flash plug in.

I typically avoid titles from most Japanese publishers/developers because overall the games they make seem to be too formulaic, but now it seems that some of them don't even bother to support their games when they have major bugs in them.

I am thinking along similar lines. If MS and Sony are going to make us wait another year before they release new consoles, then I think at this point I would enjoy adding a cheaply priced PS3 alongside my 360 so I can play all the Sony exclusives that have been released over the last 5-6 years. Sure, I'll buy Halo 4 and Gears: Judgement and probably enjoy them. But at this point, I've had enough of sequels to the same franchises. It'd be nice to play something completely different that I haven't played before (Uncharted games, God of War, the Resistance games). And the Last of Us and Beyond both look great and are totally new IPs. Maybe MS is saving some big new IPs for the launch of the 720, but in the meantime it is looking very same-old, same-old on the 360.

It looks like they have really been shooting for the moon. That footage looks like the world itself that they've created is amazing. However, I think it's unlikely that they'll be able to deliver a polished, bug-free product in terms of the gameplay and content that goes into that beautiful world. Because of their financial problems and poor management, they are going to start to lose employees and they will have to take shortcuts to deliver the game soon in order to try and start earning subscription money before their loan money runs out. That's a recipe for ho-hum, average reviews, which is basically a disaster for an MMO with a budget this large in an MMO market that is oversaturated already.
