As someone who has only just started making his way through The Witcher 3 and for whom (who?) it is the best game played this year, I was kind of disappointed by its selection as Old Game of the Year. It feels like you chose it because you were concerned about the response from the community. If you didn't play it, choose something else.
Is it the right choice? Almost certainly but I'm not here for the community's opinion. I'm here for yours.
I see what you're saying, but I think Vinny is the reason why The Witcher 3 got that. I think the rest of the crew realizes that Vinny doesn't fight as strongly for his games as some of the other members do, but he still feels very strongly about it, so they did it without making him fight for it.
