You can make different characters to be able to get multiple weekly strikes and raid drops (really important to get from lvl 26 to 30). You can make another character of the same class, get to 20 and move your gear over to get to your current level. If you have a lot of legendary gear (like full set) for another class you use that class. Since the reputation for different factions doesn't carry over, bringing another character to lvl 26+ might be a real shore if you don't have the gear already.

Yeah, I started doing this a couple days ago, at the very least it gives you more stuff to do each day/week.

In Origins, you aren't forced to play for almost two hours as someone other than the main character

I've heard that complaint quite a bit, but what exactly is the problem with playing as another character?

Yeah, that bait and switch would have actually been amazing if they hadn't revealed beforehand who the actual main character was. Even still, the reveal that Haytham was actually a Templar was one of the best moments in that game.

I was thinking about playing Alan Wake again. I liked the game, but I never went back to play the DLC or American Nightmare, and since I have all that on steam I figure I should probably play them.

Haha, that's a cruel game, there's no way to pick up the orbs!

They could've fixed that farming bullshit a whole lot easier, just insert this code "If (monster.level - player.level) < -10 Then monster.dropLoot = false".

There's no reason for a level 5 monster to drop a level 20 piece of Legendary armor anyway, instead they increased the respawn rate for those particular enemies.

Except that would make patrols utterly pointless because there are no high level enemies in public areas.

Besides, the way Destiny scales enemy encounters based on levels means even enemies far below your level can still kill you. It's not like a traditional MMO where you can stand in a sea of low level enemies and just absorb their attacks. Both damage dealt and damage received will scale down to the enemies you're facing, and even XP gains are unaffected by level.

As a casual reader and viewer of gamespot content in 2008, I obviously heard about the whole Kane and Lynch situation, but I don't think I was aware of Brad, Ryan, and Vinny's subsequent departure and the creation of Giant Bomb. That was until I saw this making its way around the internet:

Having been following the Too Human drama which this video parodies, I found it hilarious. After several minutes of laughter, I basically had an "Oh, so that's where those guys went!" moment and have been following the site ever since.

I think it's a combination of many factors contributing to a lack of attention for Forza.

  • A Forza game came out last year
  • It's not a mainline entry in the series
  • It's only on Xbox
  • Racing games in general aren't as buzzworthy as other genres
  • Shadow of Mordor is not only a game of an inherently more attention getting genre, but it's turned out to be a surprise critical hit
  • Let's also not forget that Destiny continues to dominate video game discussion, both because of leaks and future content speculation and also because many people are still playing it

TEN YEAR PLAN FOKS

There might be some story down the line, but will there be enough that care at that point?

I know it will take a hell of a lot to make me care about any of the Destiny fiction going forward. I love story in games, but at this point my main concern for the future of this series is having enough to actually do in the games to sustain more than a couple of weeks of play time.

I wonder how many are like me. In that we're completely the opposite.

The thing I want most from Destiny, from that world, is a really interesting narrative. Like, they have this kind of complex world, and they've established some ground rules about the allegiances of the different factions, even if those ground rules are really--really--vague at the moment.

Some manner of space intrigue is exactly what would get me to care way more about the proceedings of the game. Destiny has significant problems beyond its narrative, of course. The mission design is just completely flaccid. But, even still, I've put in some sixty hours and will likely devote one or two-dozen more to the game. Even if it's Halo Extended Fiction-level nonsense, it'd still be something.

Well, I was certainly disappointed by the lackluster story and I'd be absolutely delighted if the fiction became something I cared about as the series progressed, but I guess at this point I've enjoyed the core gameplay so much that really what I want most out of the series, for now at least, is more stuff to do. The fact that the parts of the game with the least amount story (raid, crucible, and strikes) are what I've enjoyed most about the game is largely the source of these feelings.

I'm in the US and it's working fine for me (PS4). Plenty of people online on my friends list as well.

@zevvion: Oh, I didn't realize the engrams I have are changed. I don't have any legendaries, so I don't have to worry about those. I just don't want to trade them in yet because I'm about 100 rep points away from ranking up with the cryptarch and I thought I might wait until the patch went live before I rank up and get the reward from that.

You can still rank up, just don't claim the package from the postmaster until the patch hits.
