Mega Man 10 Turn-Based Review 8

There are only so many times you can fall down the exact same hole before a sense of rage fills your body. This has always been a foundation of Mega Man I found hilarious – the fact that watching someone play is just as entertaining as playing it yourself. I pride myself on being one of the few Mega Man masters, someone who has beat every numbered entry in the series and can buster-only most of them. Mega Man 9 was easily my favorite game of 2008 and in the series, as well. I’ve played it to a p...

Madden 2010 Review 0

At first, I struggled writing this review. I was going into all of Madden 2010’s details, trying to figure out what people should know about what’s included, but then I stopped myself. It’s almost impossible to write a review for a game that doesn’t change, so the best thing I can do is talk about how it compares to last year’s version, and what stands out this year. Everyone knows that Madden is something you can count on every year, and last year was the first time in awhile that I played the...

'Splosion Man Review 0

If there is one thing I hate, its games with really stupid names that are trying to be clever with bad humor, which end up failing at almost everything. While ‘Splosion Man fails with the name and humor (mostly), it does get almost everything else right, and is one of the best 2D platformers to come out in recent memory. That’s probably because there isn’t many. The DS sees its fair share, but for the most part, the only platformers that come out now are based on movies or children’s IPs. Besid...

TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled Review 2

The fact that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are as old as I am is unbelievable. The fact that the brand is still popular and relevant is even more remarkable. For those that have been around from the beginning, Ubisoft has released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled. It’s a remake to the Arcade/SNES classic, and I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t been waiting for this game since its announcement. However, I feel like this review needs to be written from two different viewp...

Mirror's Edge Review 0

Original IP’s have become scarce in gaming over the past couple of years, and it isn’t very often that one stands out among the crowd of sequels and look-a-likes. Mirror’s Edge is a first-person platformer/action-adventure that puts you in control of the female lead, Faith, in the game’s metropolitan city. Instead of creating another typical shooter, the first-person view is used to play from Faith’s perspective as she runs, jumps, and climbs her way around the city.Graphically, the art style is...

Recaptured Charm 0

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time was easily one of my favorite games of last-gen. It had so much charm and charisma that my expectation for the series since then has been astronomically high. PoP: Warrior Within and PoP: Two Thrones were both decent games, but don’t even come close to comparing to Sands of Time. For some reason, even after being let down by both titles, my expectations for the 360 installment of PoP were just as high. To get to the point, I guess I can say it almost hit them.Let ...

X-Blades Review 1

Within the first half-hour of playing X-Blades, I threw my controller twice and felt like swearing off the game for good. It leaves one of the worst first impressions you’ll ever come across in a game, and it has a hard time ever redeeming itself. The hit detection is awful, the graphics are bland and boring, the story is laughable, the dialogue/voice acting is even worse, the controls are terrible, and the design is just straight up bad. I think I made my point there, but there was a quality or...

Prince of Persia DLC Review 0

*You should in no way buy this DLC if you did not finish the game. It begins after the ending of the retail release, and will spoil everything for you. Be warned.*Included in the DLC: Two more hours of playtime, 250 achievement points, and a new costume for both the Prince and Elika. Prince costume is a "prototype" version and he finally fits in the setting of the game. The Elika costume isn't as great, her final design is better.I really liked the first installment of the Prince of Persia for th...

Times change, nostalgia doesn't. 0

The Sega Genesis was actually my first owned video game system. I had been able to play the NES and SNES at my Grandparents house growing up, but the Sega Genesis was the first one I got to call my own. I don't know if anybody remembers Sega Channel, but my parents were also nice enough to subscribe to it for me, and I still find it to be one of the best ideas I've seen for gaming. It is the only reason I was able to play most of the games on this compilation, and it's also another reason I find...

Out with the old, in with the... old? 0

When I think about the NES days, I remember some of my favorite gaming moments. If I sit here and try to come up with my favorite titles, over 50 different games pop into my head almost immediately. Back in those days, the games were simple and fun. Everything was focused on gameplay, and nobody ever took the time to worry about the bells and whistles… mostly because there weren’t any. Fast forward a couple decades and now gameplay tends to take a backseat to all the other factors in the game.Th...
