GOTY 2012

Once again, thanks ThatFrood!

  • Is this really a game? Probably not, but what a ride it was. I must have let that timer run almost all the way down before making any decisions because FUCK. There are no damn right decisions is this fucked up(in a good way) story. #ForClementine

  • Very proud I 'S' ranked this game mostly without help. A video game has never given me the sense of accomplishment and satisfaction like Fez did. I wish there was more.

  • Stealth action murder simulator. I feel like a total badass playing this game.

  • Of all the games in my list, this is the latest one for me and the least played one so far but it earns a spot. I have not been able to have as much fun in a multiplayer game with randoms as I have with Chivalry. Just the constant soundtrack of screaming warriors, clashing swords, bone-crunching strikes and gurgling throats, full of blood from a clean stab to the neck. OH YES!

  • Minus the very ending, a fantastic epic story, and long lasting multiplayer to keep it installed on my Xbox's hard drive. Seeing all the characters from the series was great, and Thane's scenes by themselves lock Mass Effect 3 in my Top 10.

  • The best looking game in my Top 10 is a free-to-play game. I wonder how many people will say that this year. From technical test, to Beta, to launch. There is something very satisfying about participating in a true beta, helping it grow and then seeing the final product launch. I like to think I did my part to help it get to where it is now. In the process, I joined an outfit and experience what Planetside is truly about. Rolling deep with a crew, over anything not blue. #NC4LIFE

  • Sequel to Torchlight 1, duh. But I don't get why the alchemist went bad, I mean what did society do t...LOOT! GIMME MORE!

  • I just love reading all the different interpretations of the story and what happened to the world in Journey. Also what a gorgeous game. Wow.

  • Ridiculous fun. Ham it up voice acting from Travis Willingham, Laura Bailey, and Troy Baker. You can tell they had fun recording this game. Exploding bits of bots. Unique squad mechanics and trust system. That crazy chase mission on the freeways. Just utter chaos. French robot Cain. Big BO!

  • Had a lot of fun playing/watching this game. I love that it exists and I hope Capcom does more ridiculous stuff like this.

  • I love me some Call of Duty. Black Ops had the best campaign story of all the CoDs, until I played 2. It gave the characters more weight and believability. And the choices you can make are disguised so well at times that you don't even notice them. The changes to multiplayer, while mostly incremental, introduces new ways to play with the Pick 10 system that I can get behind.

  • Fuck platinums, fuck exploding boxes, fuck, fuck, fuck this game. Was it 250 or 500 retries? I forget but I used every single one of them. Holy shit, fuck this game.

  • Finally! My first Diablo game was this one. Yes I know I'm late to the party. It wasn't until Torchlight did I realize that I love loot based action/adventure RPGs. I had no desire to try and install Diablo 1 and 2 so I waited patiently for 3 and man was it worth it. The scalable difficulty, character design, and strangely interesting auction house all came at just the right time in the summer.

  • A great pure classic adventure game. Lighthearted story and some good 4th wall stuff. I had a lot of fun figuring out the puzzles, which weren't ridiculous. The full voice acting and cool art style makes this the second best adventure game this year.

  • Generic 3rd person shooter, but with a nice twist. It made me replay a couple scenes because I actually felt like an asshole for doing the things I did in this game.

  • Borderlands 2 is More-derlands, though slightly more difficult. That's about it really.
