1. Final Fantasy IV
Some of you may of already noticed that I have an avatar and profile image from this game, so it probably won't come of a surprise to you that this game is actually on the list. How can I explain it then? It was perhaps the first Final Fantasy game I ever played, the first time I saw those gunships in the sky, I knew this game was going to be epic. Take the typical engrossing story of Final Fantasy, combine it with the wonderous visual flair of the Nintendo's scaling power and finish it up with the good ole' Square turn based combat and you've got yourself a decent RPG already. Look out for the DS version of this game which has been remastered in glorious 3D. |

2. Fallout
I'm not a big fan of western RPGs, normally due to the vast majority of them focusing their themes of middle earth esque characters and very boring level systems. Fallout changed the way I percieved this. It showed that Interplay really could cook up a dark and serious RPG gamers had been waiting for. So typical of the genre, the game packs a tight story, a interesting level up system, and some of the best video game deaths ever to be witnessed. Be prepared for some cool shocks during play too. Hopefully once Fallout 3 has been released, the series can get some attention again. |

3. Chrono Trigger
Countless times I've explained my love for Chrono Trigger, quite possibly the greatest game of all time. It is one of those games that simply has to be played, has to be given some time to grab the player and delve them right in to the atmosphere. It is an under-statment to say the story, sound and graphics in this game are spectacular and hopefully this will be proven once the game meets a DS re-release this Christmas . |
