Sad to hear about another game studio closing. Sad to see Warren Spector in this position yet AGAIN. Feel bad for all the people who lost their jobs of course. Would have been great to see the PC release of the last game, but I guess that's pretty unlikely now. :(
@Kato: Yes, right when you open the options screen, the first tab of options, right on top is the region select. You can choose quite a variety of regions also, it isn't just limited to AMERICA or JAPAN or something like that.
Anyone want to do some coop with the demo? I'm not sure if I should just post my gamertag or not, being this thread wasn't started for that purpose (I assume). But hey, I'm having a hell of a hard time finding anyone to coop with, let alone anyone who actually wants to FINISH the demo level....
I've beat Mercury and the first mission of the then unlocked planets. Have I seen everything?
You go to Venus next, then Earth etc. But you also unlock missions in outer planets as well (not sure why they do that, but hey). The enemies on Venus missions are different, but then on Earth and Mars it's recycled again. Most areas look exactly the same as each successive planet, just with different layouts and enemy spawns obviously Sadly right now there is just a lack of other environments, which the devs are working on.
I'm up for a game anytime really. I love playing this game. As for becoming a founder, I'm going to do that at the start of next month when my SS comes in. I totally want to support DE on this one, as this game has just grabbed my attention big time and I'd like to give back a little.
How's everyone playing this? Is it an open beta already or invite only? Saw that IGN were giving away keys but I didn't want to have to create an account with them...
There are a few sites you can just go to and get a key without signing up. I know Incgamers is one. Go to www.incgamers.com and look for their giveaway for it and just click to get a key. It should work fine.
And yeah, the environments do repeat over and over, but this is also because it's just getting started beta wise and alot of content isn't in the game yet. Or at least, that's what the devs say. They said like mentioned above they are working on new environments for the game, and I'm sure at some point they will add some sort of "map mix up" thing so you won't play 3 or 4 samey looking maps in a row.
Yup, Digital Extremes own home grown engine for this bad boy. It's called the "Evolution Engine" and for the first game using it, not to mention all things considered with a new engine, it's very impressive stuff. Runs smooth as butter, looks absolutely gorgeous and best of all, uses DX11 and isn't a 35 gig download for the game. Which is amazing also.
