I'm currently on Holiday in Japan and heard the terrible news of Ryan's passing. It felt like being punched in the stomach. I wasnt sure what to do so II found a quiet corner of Osaka Castle and shed a tear. Ive been crying on and off all day as the tributes flood in. I've never met Ryan but for the last 8 years or so he's been an almost daily fixture in my day to day life, from Gamespot to Giant Bomb. It feels like a death in the family and I can't believe he's gone.

Thanks for everything Ryan. Things just won't be the same without you. RIP.

I remember soon after the U.K. N64 launch paying £79.99 for new copies of International Superstar Soccer 64 and the original Turok from Currys. Thankfully those prices didn't last too long.

While I in no way agree with retailers removing publisher approved content, the uproar regarding the opening of the game in the first place has me confused. When I worked at Gamestation here in the UK we were instructed to remove every piece of shrinkwrap that came into the stock room. The instructions and discs were removed and filed into drawers and the empty boxes were put on the shelves. This was both before and after GAME bought over Gamestation BTW. We never had one complaint about it (although I did stash a sealed copy aside if it was a title I was personally buying obviously).

@get2sammyb:  Totally agree that publishers would see it this way but I think it's kinda dumb that in a way, they are banking on their title only having a shelf life of a month or so at most to cut costs. I just wish there was another way around this whole Online Pass system but unless developers and publishers can come out with some worthwhile DLC to expand the games lifespan and stop people from trading in their titles in the first place, (such as Rock Band and Red Dead Redemption in my case) then I guess there's very little that can be done.

I really hate this "double-dipping" that seems to be becoming standard in the industry just now. It's not as if pre-owned games are putting extra strain on servers or such cos if you bought the game used, then someone had to have traded it in first of all right? I don't see how publishers can take the moral high ground here. Just because someone buys a game pre-owned doesn't mean the publisher is losing out on a sale because more often than not, I refuse to pay full price for games so if I can pick up a second hand copy for £15 less then all the better and the publisher has already had the sale from when the game was bought originally. Although if you're only saving say, £2 or so and you still decide to buy pre-owned then you sir, are an idiot!

Hmm... think I'll hold off on this for now. Got so much stuff to play through the now and just finished Dead Rising 2 (3 playthroughs in total) so kinda overdosed on zombie slaughter for now. Maybe after new year!

Just fiinshed the 12 Xtreme DS Games Quest. Good god I feel dirty! Such a slog through the bowels of mediocrity!
