Wow, wasn't expecting such a response, but I'd just like to say that although I found the violence more disturbing than the norm for me, I do agree with a lot of you after thinking about it a bit more. It's nice, in a way, to see this game seeking to illicit such a raw emotion from you and make you feel like the situation is real and inescapable.

For nearly every game I've play I'm usually able to deal with the violence that is put on display, whether it be just the sheer audacity with which they present it all or from the sheer scale of it all in which many things can get lost or be forgotten. Yet something about The Last of Us' demo struck a chord with me. Make no doubts about it, I think this game looks fucking stellar and will surely be looking for the means to get a PS3 and it, but the violence disturbed me to an extent I wasn't expecting. The intimacy of its violence, the honest emotion of a man pleading for his life, and the main guy choking that man out it was all sorta fucked. It certainly helps to make a statement about the desperate and lawless nature of the world though. So, what did you guys think of it all? Am I just being far too sensitive or did you find it a bit surprising as well?

@Morrow: I didn't notice any RPG elements in terms of getting to level up your character and spec him out towards some build, though I did notice someone run up to a vending machine and get a soda that gave them some kind of boost, so it seems as though there will be temporary stat increases you can find but no true leveling mechanics.

Yesterday when I was at PAX I found myself bored as I waited for my friends to push through the Borderlands 2 line and noticed the Sleeping Dogs kiosk right across from the 2k area. So far I've been pretty cautiously excited for the game, especially with all the changing of publishers and the like, but thats changed now that I've played it.

Hot damn is this game just fun. The story seems like it could have its own interesting merits, yet it could always just devolve into some generic Hong Kong action flick style game, but that doesn't matter really. The gameplay is just sheer fun, playing like a joyous combination of Mirror's Edge, Saints Row, and Batman Arkham City. You can transition seamlessly from free running and mantling objects around the city to a free-flow combat style system full of brutal, stylistic flair. The shooting seemed fine and the driving suitably drifty and arcade-y, but it was just how the few gameplay systems meld together and transition into each other that made it so awesome. Definitely a must buy for me now. How have the rest of you liked it?

hell yeah! a new, though old though new, company putting more money to fuel the incredible dumbs antics of giant bomb? sounds awesome to me. kind of disappointed to see people lashing out so much at this. jeff and the guys seem incredibly excited for all that this holds and i feel like thats all thats needed. if they're excited we have no reason to think this is gonna end in some catastrophic failure.

Everything is going to be fine. I'm pretty sure Jeff, Ryan, Vinny, Brad, and Dave know what they're doing.
