That's what my friend told me last night after I handed him his ass with Vega. I'm not even a good player. I was just using his moves (Mostly sky high claw and Flying Barcelona attack) and trying to cross up on him. He had no answer for them as El Fuerte. So he decided to blame it on me. I asked him if I'm just not supposed to use half of his move set. He just tripped over his words and said I was abusing the character. Kind of infuriating. 
 
What do you guys do in that kind of situation? I just laughed. But I didn't play Vega the rest of the night 'cause I didn't want to hear him bitch.

Sounds like your friend is a sore loser.  There is no such thing as "abusing your character."  Tell him maybe if he learned his character he might be able to do something about it.

I hate people like that in fighting games, coming up with some invisible handicap to make it look like they were at a disadvantage. My uncle for example used to always say I was cheating if I used Cervantes during fights in Soul Blade because he wields two weapons..

there's not such thing as abusing your character, he's just frustrated with his coz he can't beat yours. i do that sometimes just to level up my morale a bit, but in the end, of course i know i just can't beat him hehehe! you did good just laughing about it and using a different character instead, you're a good friend to your friend hehe!

Me and my friends will bitch at each other when we're playing, but we also know what to look for and what we're doing.  Whenever someone in playing Hakan and the only thing they are doing is oil slide/body press, then yeah...that's spamming in the middle of a consistent frame that can't have the move blocked.  If a Zangief is just sitting back and waiting until you make a move, then c.LP spamming, then yeah, it's bullshit.  Some will say "well, that's a fair tactic"...but the tactic is that they are being a pussy.  This is called "Street Fighter", not "Street Sit-Back-And-Wait-For-The-Other-To-Move".  There's a strong difference between pussy and mind-games.

All moves are beatable, he should try using focus attack or blocking and Ultra 2'ing your ass. Or Maybe EX run into whatever combo he wants. Loads of options for him.

Some people will just get mad if they don't know how to handle a certain situation or a certain character, so they'll either just automatically deem that character cheap or they'll say that you're using him cheaply.  That's either because they're sore losers, or they don't want to take the time to find a way to counter the technique you use with a character that gives them so much trouble.
 
In Super Street Fighter IV's case, I don't think anything is cheap.  Sure, some stuff gives me more trouble than others, but I just need to learn to adapt to those things.  Everyone has their own playstyles, and even those who stay in a corner and spam fireballs against a non-fireballing character should not be considered cheap.  Every character has a way of dealing with any situation, you just need to learn how to do it effectively.  You won't improve if you just constantly say "Such and such character is cheap" or "Such and such technique is cheap".  You just need to remember what technique gives you trouble and what character(s) gives you trouble and modify your strategy accordingly.

the only thing i wish there was in SSF4 is an option to make both players go random. i love picking random but it sucks when i get el fuerte and they pick akuma for the 10000000th time.

If someone bitches and moans about abusing your character, then tell them not to stand and try to charge a focus attack while your getting up from a knockdown and you use a cartwheel kick that breaks their focus attack and then sets up for combos. Its their fault for poor fighting tactics.

The most frustrating thing about it is that he uses 'Gief sometimes. And he won't "spam" the lariat, but he will use it a couple times in a row. But I just deal with it and get around it some how. I don't cry about it (although I want to cause it is a frustrating move to deal with).

Everyone gets salty when they lose consistently whether its by spam or smart play. But your friend should have taken that frustration in trying to beat you instead to prove how BS your Vega is. At least you ain't going hurr, duurrr I'm go great at SF cause you can't figure out how to get past this move

No such thing as cheap.  If you can do it and it gets you wins, have at it.

vegas cross ups are so hard to beat with lag, and when the player knows this and plays a solid mix up game, it makes me want to cry.

I too have a friend who kicks my ass with Vega. He's a tough character to beat when someone knows what they're doing and since almost no one uses him online, it's hard to get in practice against him.

Vega ain't hard to beat.  Just don't jump in on him, and be quick on those high blocks.

I am dissapoint at El Fuerte player

El Fuerte and Vega are my two mains so this post made my ears perk up!
 
Tips for playing against Claw with Fuerte:   
 
The most important advice against Claw as Fuerte is to not sprint across the full length of the screen. With his very fast roll and sky high claw there's just not enough opportunity to cancel yourself out the sprint in time and block the incoming assault. With EX versions you'll be losing a significant chunk of your healthbar if they manage to land.

Regular block doesnt work out too well against Claw's wall dive attacks as Fuerte's quite a small character in comparison to the rest of the roster and the wall dive attack connect usually hits above him rather than to a side. Focus blocking is the way to go or to mix it up (if you're daring enough), his backward sprint to spring jump (medium kick?) moves him out the way speedily in time with the screen scroll to Claw's dive.
 
I find that most Claw players if they can't connect with wall dives will crouch and poke around for a bit (easily blocked if you're not tempted to try and jab back with obviously insufficent range) then try to go into his forward jump HP > HP > Crouch mp > Roll combo. If you can anticipate this combo it leaves Claw open on the whiffed mp/roll for either a forward MK attack (which comes out as a very quick somersault attack which is hard to block/anticipate) or if Fuerte has any EX in the tank a quickly executed Press swings the balance into Fuerte's momentum where you can mix up all his sprint specials before Vega can eventually backflip away or Scarlet Terror to escape.
 
The real meat you're waiting for as Fuerte is the chance to launch his 2nd Ultra. You can easily knock off nearly half a health bar on the lower stamina characters such as Seth & Vega. The best opportunity is to wait for Vega to whiff his Crouch HK slide. The range and the fact Claw's in a crouching position makes Fuerte's second ultra almost unblockable. You can also force the situation onto Vega by making /HIM/ block your HK slide and as soon as the block connects - hit the ultra (back semi x2 3K) and it is almost 99% unblockable short of your timing being slow and him getting a lucky jump off in time. The one problem with the second method is that this also leaves you vunerable to Claw's second Ultra if you give him enough space to action before your slide connects.
 
FInally as with any Claw match, learn your combo's so that even if he succesfully defends you can knock his Claws off quickly in a round. This prevents his poking game which is where Vega excells and short of him regaining his Claw will find it very difficult if you keep on the offensive.

I'm not very good, but I beat some scrub Cammy's ass with Balrog and got a message that said that I've "mastered turtling". I think I have a lot of room to improve in my turtling.

There's no such thing as cheap. I mean, if it's just friendly play, and what you're doing is really pissing him off, it's kind of a dick move not to switch it up to avoid pissing off your friend.
 
But in actual competitive play, you can't say anything is cheap. If your opponent is spamming a move, then you know what's coming. And if you know what's coming, what's you're excuse for not being able to stop it?

  There is nothing cheap in SF, sure there is shit that pisses you off to no end (Fuerte), but if you think spamming a move is cheap, you may be retarded. Only thing cheap imo is abusing lag, since lag is not a natural component of the game. I know that hurts all you dp mashers, but it is true.

Cheapness does not exist.  If a character can use an ability, use it.  (Almost) Every move has a counter.  Just because your friend doesn't know the counter or how to defend against the move doesn't make it "cheap."

There is such thing as cheapness (yes in fighting games, for any would be smart-ass that's thinking of responding 'oh of course bargains exists har har har').
