Most the digital games (at least in the Uk i don't know about other regions) are usually £10 or sometimes more expensive than buying a retail copy of the game some games selling at £50-£60 when the usual price at a retail is usually about £30-£40 tops depending on the game for what you would call a new full priced game. I would love to buy digitally if the prices weren't so stupidly priced.

Kinda agree with you snark, mainly since i don;t really think lighting is the sort of woman to want to dress up all half naked and sexy like, just doesn't fit her personality to me.

I'd love to join the Giant Bomb company once phase 4 starts. I need a good group of people to play with to have any lasting enjoyment in an MMO.

My character name will be Kaegan Tarn and based on my experience in phase 3 I'm leaning heavily towards being a Pugilist. Although I want to live in Gridania so I'll probably be starting with one of their classes.

You could just start as pugilist, where you start doesn't decide your allegiance towards a city state as you decide that later on in the story quests when you join the one of the 3 grand company. leaning towards ul'dah myself since i enjoy the layout and am more used to it myself and that was kind of the defualt gathering city back in 1.0 since we had to do all the content seeking for party's by using /shouts back then, ahh the good(bad) old days..

It has allot of quality in its production, its a pretty good 'another mmo' it definitely will not be the 'next big thing' if you don't enjoy the standard mmo affair of hot-bars and quests. Theres a bunch of stuff to like about the game and it has a general good high quality but its totally preference on if it will get you hooked or not like any mmo each one is for a certain niche of the audience.

Of its uniqueness from other mmos, its crafting system is actually enjoyable and not just clicking one button once you have your materials, they do actually feel like they're own class and not just some side thing, i don;t know if other mmos have gathering class's at least the ones i have played didn't but also the gathering classes offer something of a difference peaceful pace and offers something a little different to change it up a bit instead of only doing combat based things. While it is not unqiue it has Guild Wars 2 Open world quests called FATEs and such, the game use's a bunch of the good things from mmo's and use's them here. The game is very story and dialoge focused and the actual writing is pretty good, its not a bioshock infinite story that will shock you and make you go nuts over it but its done in a good way with characters that will end up being recognizable and familiar.

Controller support is pretty great, as well as how they handle movement and animations making your character feel less of a generic mmo character that moves like a tank, doesn't sound like much but it makes a big difference to me. And the game looks great obviously, graphics don't make a game but it sure helps when you have other things pulling it together like the amazing soundtrack for the game.

Try the Beta or open beta if you can't get that and see for yourself is the only way to really tell.

Will be using my 1.0 char and have them moved over to excaliber for when the switch happens. Was anyone making a GB link shell for there or is that just where some people are known to be going, be nice to know either way.

Tried out the first two dungeons and didn't really care for it. Threat and skill management weren't an issue and it just reminded me a little too much of the things I don't like about WoW. I need to see if there's a way to filter out the animations for other people's skills because there were just too many fireworks going off on the screen. You don't need to pull carefully, or stun skills, or sleep adds, or skillchain and magic burst.

I also did some exploring and was a little bummed out at how many enemies were recycled FFXI models in higher def. I loved FFXI so call backs are appreciated, but I didn't get the same sense of place from the enemies. At level 17 I was fighting a 2 story tall buffalo thing that should have kicked my ass. You also fight demons and squid guys in Tamtara and, to me, these are not the types of enemies a level 17 character should be able to take down.

Also you've got qiqirn, but you change the names of all the races? I still do not understand why they renamed the races and I know that's petty and irrelevant, but cat-people are mithra and short people are tarutarus to me. It's like changing the word "chocobo".

I'm still into the game and will continue to play it, but I'm feeling more and more that it has lost a lot the nuance of FFXI in favor of a regurgitated WoW feedback loop.

The first few dungeons are pretty easy, and other than a couple bits here and there yeah there isn't too much skill that needs to happen to finish them, do get the impression they are basically easy mode tutorial/exp for low levels anyway, i still need to try the other level 32 which is the highest atm but more interested to see how the 24 people dungeons turn out since i reckon that's where some of the interesting stuff could happen like in Xi.

Fingers crossed get to mess with that in phase 4 but i wont hold my breath.
