@Haethos: And boy does that thing run out of ammo. I'd gladly trade in all those heavy weapon ammo upgrades (and even heavy weapons themselves) for extended primary ammo capacity.
@FalconCritical: So far I've been using Charge as an ammo-conserving and defensive tool. Enemies flank & rush like crazy in Insanity. Charge has helped me in a pinch to repel flankers.
If you want challenging, I think Hardcore scratches that itch just fine. Insanity approaches masochistic. It can be very demoralizing fighting a huge group of guys for 15 minutes only to die at the very end. Those 15 minute fights are not uncommon since even the lowliest bum is decked out in full armor and shields. I imagine Sentinels having the easiest time dealing with Insanity.
" i don't fully understand the bonus power thing. how is it different from advanced training? if i choose slam for my bonus and then get something from advanced training does that replace my slam? "
Advanced training IS one bonus power. You can have up to one bonus power, and you choose which power that is by taking (or retaking) Advanced training. So yes, if you choose a power OTHER than Slam, advanced training will replace slam as your bonus power. EDIT: Oh and for the OP: Warp Ammo and/or Barrier/Fortification are pretty handy. Insanity is a clusterfuck regardless of how you play it, so be prepared for a LOT of keyboard-smashing aneurysms during the harder fights. "
Hey good to know. I was under the impression I could choose a bonus power and later on buy Advanced Training to add yet ANOTHER power. There goes my idea of choosing Fortification before buying Warp Ammo.
As for Insanity, I have only finished the prologue and I think I`ve retrained my mind to expect ALL enemies to have barrier & shields and armor. There were a few fights on Veteran that got under my skin so I fully expect Insanity to do that more frequently. I hope I don`t have to rip my 360 controller in half anytime soon. As a Vanguard I`m already feeling like I won`t get to use Charge nearly as much ad I`d want to. Insanity requires a way more conservative approach. And even the lowliest scrub probably isn`t going to drop after the patented Charge-elbow-Claymore shotty blast combo any more.
I am leaning towards Fortification now since it will provide protection against melee where Barrier will not. I will still be getting up in people`s faces with my Claymore heavy shotty, so I think Fortification`s the way to roll.
I would appreciate any input on a good bonus power to choose for my Vanguard. The choices again are:
Warp Ammo
Reave
Barrier
Fortification
Cryo Blast
Incinerate
Geth Shield Boost
Armo Piercing Ammo
Slam
Energy Drain
Neural Shock
Shredder Ammo
Inferno Grenade
I had purchased Barrier as part of my Advanced Training in my Veteran playthrough & that seemed to be fairly useful. Warp Ammo seems nice too but I may want to focus more on defense on Insanity. Thanks!
@End_Boss: Haha. Dunno. In the face builder the blonde hair looked more white to me. It still worked out alright I think; there aren`t enough blonde asian leading men in my viddygames
