A decent and perhaps easiest way to actually start working in the industry would be to take computer science courses. Programers, web designers etc are in bigger need than journalists and ''art designers'', so a degree in computer science would likely give you more chances of getting into a company connected to the gaming industry and you will have more job security in general.

(I dont't really like the word gamer and I'm sure many of you don't like it aswell, but let's play along with it for this scenario)

(Also predispose that the people in question are born in similar social conditions, adding this here before a cocky bastard tries to point that out and turn this around)

How much control do you really think we have upon the things we like, is it really our choice to like something ? Because I don't think it is, person a may be interested in videogames while person b may not even care about them. And do you really think that if conditions require person ''b'' to suddenly play videogames he will like them as much as person ''a'' who was naturally attracted to gaming ? Even if person ''b'' would be reborn into a place where he is surrounded by videogames and gamers there is nothing saying that he will like videogames as much as the people around him do, he may get acquainted with the mechanics and the genral sense of it but that's it.

I made this thread because of an anecdotal scenario, where my friends were trying to get another friend to play videogames with them, when he obviously couldn't care less about them. I thought it was the stupidest thing ever, obviously if he would have even a sliver of interest in games he would have shown interest in them before.

The word vigilante seems to fit the most.

I don't know enough about Batman to know whether he has political pursuits or not. Does he ?

If you are not new to the world of the internet and the gaming community, you have surely stumbled upon more than a few individuals who claim that graphics are not important in videogames. Well I disagree, they are important. Graphics influences the overall immersion in the world (to what extend they do so is debetable), developers need to strive for better graphics in all games. However no other element should be sacrificied for it, for example, it would utmost ridiculous if developers sacrificed gameplay for graphics. I am by no means a ''graphics whore'', I really enjoy playing older videogames whose looks have not aged that well, and still enjoy them a lot and manage to immerse myself in them, but I would be a fool to think that if those games had today's graphics they would not be more immersing. And you know what, even if we seperate the ''immersion'' bracket from the rest of the games paramaters, and dissect into several different parts, such as voice acting, atmosphere, writing, art etc, graphics would still be the least ''important'' thing in that section, at least in my opinioin. Yet they should still matter, because no matter how small it's contribution may seem if we dissect it, the overall clockwork needs to have all pieces working in harmony.

But what do you think of this issue ? Are graphics completely irrelevant to you ? Or are they one of the more important parts that immerse you in video game world ?

(I'd love to create a poll but it seems that I can't have both)

Hello everyone, I remember finding this site back in 2009 or so, and have been using it as my main video game site since then (before it was Gametrailers....yeah I know). I really enjoy the videos and the contant and really like the bombcast (have not listened to it lately though, must do that). But enough about me, to go back to my question, I don't really understand the Giantbomb crew. So the 4 main guys would be Jeff, Ryan, Vinny and Brad obviously, but where do Dave, Alex, Drew, the somewhat new Patrick etc fit in exactly ? Will it ever expand so that Drew will be on the bombcast more often, and I would really love to see some more stuff from Mr.Snider.

Anyway I am sorry for my ignorance, hopefully someone will clear me up. Also sorry if this should have been posted in off-topic.
